Grand Theft Auto VI is officially set to release on Nov. 19, 2026 - nearly three years after the game was first announced in December 2023. But with Take-Two Interactive's earnings call set for Thursday and the game's third trailer still unseen, the GTA 6 release date still feels more like a hopeful target less than six months away.

That's certainly the sentiment across social media and prediction market apps about the official release date for what should be the best-selling game of all time. As a soonish-to-be owner of the game myself, I'm also skeptical of Rockstar's promise to deliver by late November, so I sifted through the latest news and rumors along with live prediction market data to answer the biggest question in video games: when will GTA 6 come out?

📅 GTA 6 release date: When does GTA 6 come out?

GTA 6 is scheduled to release on Thursday, Nov. 19, for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That date was confirmed by Rockstar Games on Nov. 6, 2025, which marked the second delay for the blockbuster title after initially targeting a 2025 release before pushing that to May 26, 2026.

Earlier this week, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick sat down with David Senra on his "Founders" podcast for a wide-ranging 100-minute interview and was asked if he knew when the release date would be: "November 19th, I do know," Zelnick told Senra. "It's been announced."

Even so, the market remains skeptical. With more than $2.6 million in trading volume at Kalshi on the GTA 6 release date - more than any other video game market on the platform -  there is still a 73% chance that GTA 6 releases before December 2026. That means traders still see a 27% chance of another delay to at least December with a 19% probability that we don't see another Grand Theft Auto game until 2027.

When will GTA 6 release?

Here's a look at the odds for when GTA 6 will come out as of Wednesday morning with yes and no prices (in cents) at Kalshi:

Release window Implied % Yes No
Before August 2026 1% 99¢
Before September 2026 2% 99¢
Before October 2026 4% 98¢
Before November 2026 8% 92¢
Before December 2026 73% 79¢ 27¢
Before 2027 81% 82¢ 19¢
Before July 2027 87% 88¢ 17¢
Before January 2028 97% 97¢

The shape of this market clearly bends around the official release date of Nov. 19: traders see a release before November as virtually impossible - as they should - while another delay remains the unlikely outcome despite more uncertainty there than Rockstar officials would hope to see, given their public posturing about shipping "on time."

If GTA 6 is delayed again, traders seem fairly optimistic the delay would only extend into December or early 2027. A release beyond July 2027 is seen as a long shot with just a 12% chance as of Wednesday morning, while a push to 2028 holds a 3% likelihood.

GTA 6 release date timeline

GTA 6 has been publicly delayed twice since its debut trailer was revealed in December 2023, nearly two years after the game was first confirmed to be in development. And the Take-Two CEO's comments over the weekend suggest the game may have been delayed a third time unbeknownst to the public.

In that podcast appearance, Zelnick told Senra that GTA 6 was "18 months behind the original date" - which conflicts with the publicly stated initial release date of Fall 2025. Counting back from November's planned release, that would suggest an initial target of Spring 2025, perhaps a year prior to the second target date of May 26, 2026.

Here's a look at the full timeline since the game was first announced:

  • Feb. 4, 2022: Rockstar officially confirms GTA 6 is in development.
  • Dec. 4, 2023: Rockstar drops the first trailer for the game, confirming the series' return to Vice City and teasing a release window in 2025.
  • May 16, 2024: Take-Two narrows the window to Fall 2025 on a Q4 earnings call.
  • May 2, 2025: Rockstar officially delays GTA 6 for the first (public) time to May 26, 2026.
  • May 6, 2025: Rockstar releases its second trailer for the game, revealing more about the game's main protagonists and potential mission structures.
  • Nov. 6, 2025: Rockstar delays GTA 6 again, this time targeting a release date of Nov. 19, 2026, which remains the official stance of the company as of May 2026.
  • May 17, 2026: Zelnick says the game is “18 months behind the original date,” pointing to an internal third delay from Spring 2025 while reaffirming the new target of Nov. 19.

Will GTA 6 be delayed again?

Probably not, but the 27% chance of another delay in the market is grounded in two very real concerns: Zelnick's own admission that the game has already been delayed more than the public was aware of, and Rockstar's history of extensive delays on major AAA releases like this one.

That second point is the big one, and it's the reason why we'll likely see some traders fading a Nov. 19 release all the way until the game is firmly in their hands. The studio behind Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption tends to float a vague window to generate early interest, push right past it as the development timeline swells, commit to a specific date after multiple delays, and then (mostly) hit that one.

That's been the pattern with major releases from Rockstar Games over the years. Here's a look at the delay history for their last four blockbuster titles:

Game Original window Specific date set Actual release
Grand Theft Auto IV Oct. 2007 April 29, 2008 April 29, 2008 ✅
Red Dead Redemption Late 2009 April 27, 2010 May 18, 2010 ❌
Grand Theft Auto V Spring 2013 Sept. 17, 2013 Sept. 17, 2013 ✅
Red Dead Redemption 2 Fall 2017 Oct. 26, 2018 Oct. 26, 2018 ✅

The silver lining from all these GTA 6 delays is that, historically, Rockstar doesn't delay a game more than three times - which has already happened here - and tends to stick to a firm date once it's been set. But even that isn't a guarantee after what we saw with Red Dead Redemption, which was pushed back nearly a month shortly before release.

🎬 When will the next GTA 6 trailer come out?

It's been over a year since the last GTA 6 trailer came out, and it feels like the next one could be just around the corner - possibly even this week.

According to the latest odds via Kalshi, there is a 38% chance the next trailer is released before June 2026 (so, this month) and a 72% chance of another trailer before July. Those numbers are clearly tied to Take-Two's next earnings call on Thursday and the prospect of a summer marketing push for GTA 6 before its expected release in November.

When will the next GTA 6 trailer be released?

Here's a look at the odds for when GTA 6's next trailer will come out as of Wednesday morning with yes and no prices (in cents) at Kalshi:

Release date Implied % Yes No
Before June 2026 38% 37¢ 64¢
Before July 2026 72% 74¢ 28¢
Before August 2026 87% 87¢ 14¢
Before September 2026 90% 93¢
Before October 2026 95% 95¢

With nearly $130,000 in trading volume, this market isn't as sharp as the GTA 6 release date but still offers a window into the public's thinking about how Rockstar will market its next blockbuster title. And I wouldn't be surprised if the market moved quickly this week.

The last trailer came four days after Take-Two delayed GTA 6 for a second time. It also came on a Tuesday, which tracks with the first trailer originally being scheduled on a Tuesday before it leaked early. Speaking of leaks, we've also seen swirling rumors about pre-orders and price this week (more on both below), all of which has some fans circling next Tuesday as a potential release date for the third trailer.

This is the one market where I actually see some value in fading the public and grabbing "yes" on the next trailer being released before June 2026. If Take-Two decides to delay this game once again, that would open the ideal window for a third trailer to satiate the public. And if it's confirmed that the game is indeed coming out this fall, it could be a strong way to generate marketing momentum to release a new trailer soon.

What to watch at Take-Two's earnings call (May 21)

Take-Two reports Q4 and full fiscal 2026 earnings on Thursday with the call starting at 4:30 p.m. ET. The last delay was announced minutes before the previous call, so this is arguably the most consequential GTA 6 date on the calendar between now and launch.

Here are three things I'm watching for on Thursday:

  • FY2027 specifics. Take-Two's fiscal year ends March 31, 2027, so any discussion of projected earnings for Q1 2027 should build in some hefty revenue numbers from GTA 6 if the company truly believes it's coming out in November. If they're vague about revenue beyond December, that'll be a massive red flag to me.
  • Marketing plans. Zelnick has said marketing for GTA 6 will ramp up this summer, as you'd expect for a game coming out in less than six months. A concrete timeline of any kind would help clarify those plans and could tip us off to the next trailer date or provide confidence in that targeted Nov. 19 release date.
  • How Zelnick describes the release date. He's used “confident” and “very good” lately to describe how he feels about a Nov. 19 release. He felt “really good” right before both prior delays, so you best believe I'll be on adverb watch this week in addition to scouring the web for leaks and rumors after the earnings call.

GTA 6 leaks and pre-order rumors

The "Best Buy leak," as it will forever be known in GTA lore, drove fans into a tizzy last week when the store sent emails to affiliates suggesting a pre-order campaign for May 18 through May 21. The emails were confirmed as legitimate by Insider Gaming, and Take-Two stock jumped by over $10 per share while adding roughly $2 billion in market value for the company as a whole.

Then Monday came and went with no pre-orders, and Insider Gaming reporter Tom Henderson - one of the best sources for GTA 6 news among reputable media - said on a podcast earlier this week that he wouldn't be surprised if we don't hear anything official until July.

In January, Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier - another reliable source on Rockstar news - said on the Button Mash podcast that the game was "not content complete" based on his reporting. That initially cast some doubt at the time about a November release, though Schreier said he wouldn't be surprised to see it release on time.

That's probably the "best" info we've received from a reputable source this calendar year. But that hasn't stopped fans from scouring every corner of the web for leaks, rumors, or other signals that could indicate when we see the next trailer or the game itself:

  • The PlayStation Store added “Free Delivery” and new filter tags to the GTA 6 listing over the weekend.
  • Earlier today, fans reported GTA 6 showing up as "in stock" on the PlayStation Store.
  • GTA 6 now has a backend product page in Walmart's system, according to Reddit rumors, though there remains no front-end confirmation.
  • An Italian retailer reportedly sold out of PS5 pre-orders despite no confirmation from Rockstar.
  • Rockstar's YouTube channel reportedly gained two unlisted videos over the weekend, suggesting the potential for an unreleased trailer (or two).

💵 GTA 6 price: How much will it cost?

We have no official word on what the GTA 6 price will be whenever it releases, but industry trends suggest it'll be the most expensive Grand Theft Auto game of all time and could set a new standard for blockbuster AAA releases.

The latest forecast at Kalshi is $68.50, down nearly $10 over the last two weeks and a major dip from the peak expected price of $82.70 back in November 2025. Obviously, the price won't be a seemingly random interval like that - it'll almost certainly have a base price of either $69.99, $79.99, or something well beyond that.

How much will GTA 6 cost?

Here's a look at the odds on the expected GTA 6 price as of Wednesday morning with yes and no prices (in cents) at Kalshi:

Launch price Implied % Yes No
More than $60 96% 98¢
More than $70 42% 43¢ 58¢
More than $80 19% 20¢ 81¢
More than $90 9% 10¢ 91¢
More than $100 5% 95¢

With over $650,000 in trading volume, the market has made one thing clear: this game ain't shipping for $60. There's a 96% chance that GTA 6 exceeds the base price of $59.99 that we saw with GTA 5 in 2013, which only makes sense given the exorbitant development costs exceeding $1 billion and the 13 years of inflation between the two releases.

But what about $70? That's the new industry standard for big-budget AAA titles, and there's an air of inevitability among gamers that $80 will soon be the standard price on current-gen consoles - we've already seen Nintendo push that line with Mario Kart World ($79.99) and the physical version of Pokemon Pokopia ($79.99).

There's been plenty of speculation about the base price of GTA 6 exceeding $100, including from actual industry experts, and those rumors were fueled when an Italian retailer listed GTA 6 with a pre-order price of €99 ($115 USD). Yet that flies in the face of comments from Zelnick, who has said the price will be "fair" and that Rockstar wants to "deliver more value than what we charge" for the blockbuster game.

Zelnick has previously referenced the price range of $70 to $80 when discussing in-game advertising strategy within big-budget games, and while he never explicitly tied those figures to GTA 6, it would make a ton of sense for the game to fall within that range. Rockstar has the potential to make untold sums on microtransactions inside GTA Online, and a lower price point gets more players into that ecosystem faster.

The safer call based on precedent is $69.99, but a price point of $79.99 makes a lot of sense and has some value here as the contrarian play ahead of Thursday's earnings call.

🎮 GTA 6 FAQ

Will GTA 6 cost $100?

It's highly unlikely that GTA 6 costs $100 or more, which would set a new record for a base price of a traditional console release. There is a mere 5% chance of GTA 6 being priced over $100 with a similarly low 9% chance of a price above $90. The game is expected to ship with a price between $60 and $70.

What platforms will GTA 6 be on at launch?

GTA 6 will release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at launch, which is expected to be Nov. 19, 2026. There is no announced PS4, Xbox One, Switch 2, or PC version. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has said Rockstar's approach is to “serve the core consumer first,” which means releasing on current-gen consoles before anything else.

When will GTA 6 come out on PC?

Rockstar hasn't announced a PC release date or committed to one at all, though we can expect that to come at some point based on precedent. GTA V released on consoles first before a PC version dropped roughly 19 months later, which would put a PC release of GTA 6 around 2028, though some industry experts expect an early 2027 PC release.
