The Toronto Tempo very much look like an expansion team, and that should be very much to the Indiana Fever’s benefit on Tuesday. As Toronto’s defense worsens, an offensive powerhouse like Indiana should thrive.

My Fever vs. Tempo predictions trust Indiana’s offense in all regards ahead of tonight's tipoff from Scotiabank Arena in Toronto at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN).

🏆 Who will win Fever vs. Tempo?

To be blunt, the Tempo want to lose. Their 13th-place standing is not yet assured, and landing a top-three pick in next year’s WNBA draft could be franchise-changing. By no means will Toronto’s roster actually seek out the loss, but there is a clear lack of urgency for a team on a 10-game losing streak.

Score prediction: Fever 101, Tempo 90

💰 Fever vs. Tempo prediction & best bet

Fever -10 (-110)

No one in the WNBA is more delighted by a problematic defense than the Indiana Fever are. Since July 1 - a date chosen simply to focus on more recent stats, though still with a hefty sample size - Indiana’s offensive rating has ranked No. 1 in the league and is nearly five points per 100 possessions better than No. 3.

The Tempo defense has lost all sense of professionalism. Being the worst in the WNBA in that same stretch would be one thing, but Toronto is the worst by a large margin. The Tempo are 9.5 points per 100 possessions worse than the league's second-worst defense.

That math was double-checked. That is how bad Toronto’s defense is. And by no means is its offense up to the task of compensating, below league-average in that regard, too.

🔥 Best Fever vs. Tempo player prop bet

Caitlin Clark Over 24.5 points (-102)

Caitlin Clark is a flawed basketball player, but even her harshest critics must recognize that her volume shooting can yield a bonanza scoring output on any given night. Against a defense as wretched as Toronto’s, Clark is going to have more open looks than she knows what to do with.

The Fever routed the Tempo in mid-June, a 22-point win in which Clark shot just 5-of-15 from the field and 1-of-8 from deep. Yet she still scored 21 points.

Even a modest shooting night from the Indiana star should notch this points Over.
