I'm taking advantage of the 2.5-shot total for Nylander, who averaged 3.73 shots per game last season on home ice. Not only that, Nylander registered 18 shots on goal in the previous three meetings with the Habs, with two seven-shot performances.

Nylander runs hot and cold more than most, but he should be in the mood in the season opener against the team's most loathed rivals.

The diminutive winger will be gung-ho on impressing his new fanbase, and there's no better way to do that than to set up a goal against one of his new team's arch rivals. 

Marner had 75 assists in 81 games last season and posted four assists in the previous two meetings against the Los Angeles Kings, who lost 4-1 on Tuesday at home to the Colorado Avalanche.

I don't love the -105 odds for Draisaitl to light the lamp. However, those odds reflect Draisaitl's prolific goal-scoring from last season, when he won the Rocket Richard Trophy on the back of 52 goals in 71 games.

I'm enthused about Connor McDavid signing a two-year contract extension, as the mood will be euphoric in Alberta's capital. That should translate to on-ice thrills at the Flames' expense. 

So, how about McDavid to Draisaitl for their season opener? And what about Draisaitl's three goals in the previous two games against Calgary to sweeten the deal? That explains the -105 odds at DraftKings, the best price available. A winning $10 bet will profit $9.52. 

🔥 Tomas Hertl, Golden Knight, anytime goal (+230) ⭐⭐⭐

Hertl scored a hat trick the last time the Golden Knights and Kings met at T-Mobile Arena. He has five goals in the last four games against the Kings and scored 32 last season, three fewer than the team's leading scorer, Pavel Dorofeyev.

He scored 21 of his 32 goals on home ice, which bodes well for the curtain raiser. FanDuel offers +230 odds, and if he scores, you'll earn $23 on a winning $10 bet.
