Stanley Cup Odds 2023: Do Rolling Kings Present Royal Opportunity?

The Los Angeles Kings continue to hang with the top teams in the NHL since the All-Star break, and sportsbooks keep dropping their odds to win the Stanley Cup. Here’s Sportsbook Review betting analyst Neil Parker’s breakdown of the Stanley Cup odds from our best sportsbooks.
Los Angeles has reigned supreme out of the break with the best points percentage (82.5%) while also ranking fifth in five-on-five Corsi For percentage (55.1%), and second in goals for percentage (62.4%). There’s also nothing unruly about the Kings’ 101.2 PDO – a slight hit to their puck luck is ahead, but it isn’t going to unseat them.
The Kings boast a balanced scoring attack and have driven possession all season with a seventh-ranked 52.8 CF% when adjusted for score and venue.
This is the best Kings team since the glory days when Los Angeles hoisted Lord Stanley for the second time in three years in 2014. But is it time to purchase a ticket for The Monarchs to win it all this time around?
Here's a look at the updated Stanley Cup odds futures market (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook, FanDuel Sportsbook, BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, and PointsBet).

Stanley Cup odds analysis
Shopping across our best sportsbooks is critical to making sure you land the best odds and avoid the worst in this betting market. It’s definitely worth highlighting that prospective long-shot bettors will find the best number through Caesars.
Stanley Cup odds movement
There hasn’t been significant movement to the odds recently for the majority of teams projected to earn a postseason berth. The Boston Bruins and Kings have both seen their respective numbers drop over the past week at some of our best sportsbooks. On the flip side, bubble teams that are still battling to earn a wild-card spot have since had a slight increase in price at some shops. Most notably, the New York Islanders, Pittsburgh Penguins and Calgary Flames.
Stanley Cup odds 2023: Favorite
Avalanche (+700 via FanDuel)
The reigning Stanley Cup champs are the favorites to advance out of the Western Conference. Colorado continues to string together wins despite consistently playing with key contributors sidelined. Nathan MacKinnon has been a multi-point machine with 18 goals and 21 assists through 24 games following the All-Star break, and the goaltending has been sneaky good. The Avs have the third-best team save percentage (.928) at five-on-five, and if it carries over to the postseason, look out. Finally, I expect the +700 odds through FanDuel to be the longest available from here out.

Stanley Cup odds 2023: Underdog
Oilers (+1300)
The Oilers will go as far as their superstar duo will carry them, and in particular Hart Trophy-lock Connor McDavid. The Oil made key additions at the trade deadline, and goaltender Stuart Skinner is settling in as the No. 1 starter by winning eight of his first 10 starts.

Stanley Cup odds 2023: Long shot
Kings (+2700 via FanDuel)
I value the experience that centers Anze Kopitar and Phillip Danault, and defenseman Drew Doughty bring to the table, and they're surrounded by a well-balanced supporting cast. Add a 25-9-4 record at Crypto.com Arena to the potential for Los Angeles to secure the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, and the Kings present long-shot value.

Stanley Cup odds 2023: Fade
Bruins (+380)
Unless peak Bobby Orr all of a sudden starts jumping the boards for the Spoked Bs, I’m steering clear. There’s absolutely no value left in the available odds, and the numbers across our best sportsbooks are likely to continue shrinking. There was still a Bruins +450 available through DraftKings following the trade deadline on March 4, for example.
