Favorite for the Stanley Cup

Oilers (+850 via FanDuel)

The Oilers' winning streak ended but they are not only favorites to win the Stanley Cup, they are now consensus favorites to win it. A week ago they were co-favorites with a few books, even behind a few teams. Entering the new week, however, they are the favorites across all books.

This team went to the Western Conference Final not long ago, and when clicking arguably have the most lethal offense in the NHL. What's crazy is that Edmonton's defense is the reason this team is winning games, as the Oilers have actually gone Under the goal total in 12 of 13 games entering Tuesday's game.

If Edmonton can win low-scoring games, its offense just needs to hit timely goals - which is more than doable with Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Zach Hyman skating around like mad men.

Stanley Cup odds 2024: Contender

Avalanche (+1050 via bet365)

The Western Conference is going to be a gauntlet with the red-hot Oilers leading the way, and let's not forget the disrespected Vancouver Canucks with FanDuel offering very generous +1500 odds on them. Colorado can get through, however, as it boasts a comparable offense to Edmonton with a better defense led by Cale Makar.

The Avalanche are elite and people seem to forget it with the streaking Oilers and surprise of Vancouver. This is a fine play at these odds, and if the Oilers continue to win you might be able to get a better price on the Avalanche soon.

Stanley Cup odds 2024: Long shot

Jets (+1600 via Caesars)

Winnipeg has one of the best goalies in Connor Hellebuyck. The Jets sit quietly atop the Central Division with the fewest amount of goals allowed in hockey at 105. If Hellebuyck gets hot when the playoffs start, this team can go far.

They also best one of the best goal differentials in the league. Considering Winnipeg features one of the best - if not the best - defenses in the league, it's hard to ignore a very kind 16/1 ticket on what is essentially Hellebuyck playing out of his mind come playoff time. The former Vezina winner and current front-runner absolutely can.

Stanley Cup betting analysis

Many of our best sports betting sites have landed on the Oilers as the Stanley Cup betting favorite. It's unlikely the Oilers continue to keep winning at this pace, and if they surge into the President's Trophy - well, we all know the curse that accolade brings. Vancouver seems to be the most inconsistent of odds among contenders, not listed in the top 10 with some books but as short as +950 with others.
