Tyreek Hill has been one of the NFL's premier wide receivers for nearly a decade. However, this season hasn't gone as planned, as Hill suffered a devastating knee injury in Week 4 against the Jets. So, how much longer will Hill be out of action?
In this Hill injury update, we'll look at when the wideout will return to the playing field. We'll also look at where Hill could be playing next season.
⏳ When will Tyreek Hill return and be back for the Dolphins?
Hill is recovering nicely from his ACL injury, as his agent Drew Rosenhaus recently told WSVN’s Josh Moser.
“Everything I get from Tyreek and the Dolphins is that his rehab is going extremely well,” Rosenhaus said on Nov. 24. "He’s working incredibly hard. He’s made really great progress, and everything is going according to schedule.”
Recovery time from an ACL tear varies. It can take anywhere from 6-to-12 months. The best model for Hill is that of Patriots WR Stefon Diggs. He tore his ACL in October 2024 but was ready for training camp in July of this season.
On the flip side, we’ve seen these types of situations get quite lengthy and ugly. San Francisco 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk tore his ACL, MCL, and meniscus in October 2024 and has still not returned.
Of course, Aiyuk’s situation is also tied to his contract issues with the 49ers. Hill and the Dolphins have also been on rocky terms for a while now, and many think it will be in another team’s uniform when Hill does make a comeback.
🏥 Is Tyreek Hill out for the season?
Yes, Hill is out for the season due to the ACL tear he suffered against the Jets. Hill’s knee twisted when he planted his foot in the Hard Rock Stadium turf in the third quarter against New York on Sept. 29.
"When I got tackled, I immediately tried to get up ... I'd seen that my leg was crooked," Hill said. "I immediately started laughing because I've been able to play this game for 10 years, really my entire life, and I've been blessed with great talents and great gifts. The amount of support I get from my family, it's amazing. So I really wasn't even thinking about the injury. I was thinking about the great times I've had playing this game.”
🏈 Tyreek Hill trade rumors
It's a solid bet that Hill has played his last down with the Dolphins. It was looking like Hill and the Dolphins were headed for a divorce even before this injury, and now it makes financial sense for Miami to move on from the WR either by cutting him or trading him.
Hill created some buzz on Nov. 28, one day after his former team, the Chiefs, lost to the Cowboys on Thanksgiving. He simply tweeted, “I need to go home.”
Kansas City never really filled the void left Hill behind when the Chiefs traded him to the Dolphins in March of 2022.
🐬 Dolphins betting odds
The Dolphins got off to a brutal 1-6 start, but they've been one of the more surprising teams in the second half of the NFL season. Mike McDaniel’s squad has won five of its last six games and is technically still alive for a playoff spot with a 6-7 record.
NFL Playoff odds show the Dolphins with a +7000 chance at making the postseason. The best NFL betting sites currently have Miami with a 7.5 win total projection.
