Our NFL Clutch Factor power rankings evaluate each starting QB's on-field impact across nine statistical categories widely perceived as the defining characteristics of clutch gunslingers.

At the moment, Daniel Jones is the guy, superior to everyone else. But will it last, or can one of the other clutch QBs, like Matthew Stafford, Sam Darnold, Dak Prescott, Patrick Mahomes, or Jordan Love, unseat the revitalized Jones?

Stafford and Darnold are coming off bye weeks, with the former facing a particularly favorable matchup against New Orleans. You can find coverage of that game and more in the Week 9 NFL predictions

🐴 Jones stays on top thanks to rout of Titans

If you're waiting for Jones to fall off the horse, don't hold your breath.

The twice-discarded quarterback has led his Indianapolis Colts to the best record in football (7-1) and a place among the Super Bowl odds contenders. Those seven victories have come by an average margin of 14.9 points.

Speaking of which, Jones and Co. trod all over the lowly Tennessee Titans, 38-14. He threw three TD passes, making it four straight games with at least two TD tosses. Through eight weeks, the Colts have scored 270 points with Jones under center, 21 more than Payton Manning's Colts of 2004.

He has seven games with a passer rating of 100+, tied for the most. Jones also has the third-best completion percentage (71.2), the fourth-most passing yards 2,062, and the second-best QBR (79.5).

He's inarguably part of the NFL MVP odds conversation and is among the top five in red zone efficiency.

And he's done it all despite being written off by the masses. It wasn't long ago that you could bet on whether he'd win the starting job after arriving in Indianapolis. I imagine giving Jones the job is one of the best coaching decisions Shane Steichen has ever made.

🐎 Student defeats master as Love puts on show in Pittsburgh

Jordan Love ascended from a share of ninth place to being among the top five in these power rankings after putting on a show in the second half against his former mentor, Aaron Rodgers, and the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football.

Love completed 20 consecutive passes in the second half and overturned a 16-7 halftime deficit to win 35-25. He finished with 360 passing yards, a season high, to go along with three TD passes and no interceptions.

And somehow, albeit beyond comprehension, Love managed to precisely drop in this looping dime off his back right foot while fading away.

According to Opta Stats, he is the only QB in history to complete at least 20 consecutive passes with three TD passes, while committing no interceptions or turnovers, and avoiding being sacked.

You'll be hard-pressed to encapsulate the definition of clutch better.

🐎 Nix outclasses Prescott in battle of clutch QBs

Bo Nix had a season-best four TD passes against the Dallas Cowboys, outclassing Dak Prescott, who has been among the most clutch QBs in recent weeks. The sophomore gunslinger has led the Denver Broncos to a 6-2 start and sole possession of first place in the AFC West.

Of the top quarterbacks drafted last year, Nix leads the way with 52 total touchdowns, 12 more than second-place Jayden Daniels, 18 more than Drake Maye, and 21 more than Caleb Williams. The caveat being that Daniels has missed three games thus far in the current campaign, and Maye played only 10 complete games last season.
