Let's start with the two selections I first chose in my picks against the spread for Week 9, including the Lions to cover at home against the Minnesota Vikings and the Jaguars to do the same in Sin City against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Lions are 3-0 at home, winning by an average margin of 23.3 points, and they're facing a de facto rookie who hasn't played since Week 2. 

The Jaguars took a beating in London but have had more than enough time to recuperate. Plus, they are facing a Raiders team with just one impressive win this season, which came in Week 1 against the New England Patriots. 

Speaking of the Patriots, I have them as one of my NFL picks against the inconsistent Atlanta Falcons. I've backed Daniel Jones, entering Week 9 as the NFL's most clutch QB, to amass at least 253 passing yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers, which he's done in two of three away games. 

Christian McCaffrey, meanwhile, has at least 46 receiving yards in seven of eight games and fell only three yards short in Houston last week.

For the second addition, I've gone with Justin Herbert to run for at least 16 yards against the Tennessee Titans. He scampered for 62 yards last week against Minnesota and accumulated 31 in the previous game against the Indianapolis Colts. Herbert hit the Over on this total in six of eight games.

I'm backing three underdogs in Week 9, including the Denver Broncos, Cincinnati Bengals, and Buffalo Bills. The Broncos have been superb in all phases recently, dominating the Dallas Cowboys last week after scoring 33 points in the fourth-quarter comeback win over the New York Giants. 

The Bengals suffered a heartbreaking loss last week at home to the winless New York Jets. I like them to bounce back at home against a Chicago Bears team that was woeful against Baltimore last week.

Finally, I expect the Bills' regular-season dominance over the Kansas City Chiefs to continue, which I covered extensively in my Chiefs vs. Bills prediction. Mike Spector, in his NFL upset picks for Week 9, also backs the Bengals and Broncos.
