Sam Darnold has usurped Daniel Jones as the league's most clutch QB, with Matthew Stafford and Bo Nix, among others, impressing in Week 9.

Two formerly discarded QBs, a gunslinger whose back wasn't supposed to hold up and one who is often unfairly criticized, sit atop our NFL Clutch Factor power rankings entering Week 10.

Sam Darnold, Matthew Stafford, Bo Nix, and Daniel Jones provide four reasons why the NFL is the most unpredictable and compelling sport. It brings pleasant surprises to the table more often than Darnold and Jones have been counted out. Let's take a look at where each QB stands in the power rankings entering this weekend's slate. The analysis below complements our Week 10 NFL predictions.

🏅 Best clutch performances last week

🐏 Stafford lighting up the SoFi sky

While the New Orleans Saints have become the NFL's whipping boys on the road, take nothing away from another scintillating Matthew Stafford performance. He tossed four TD passes in Los Angeles' 34-10 rout of New Orleans, making it nine in the last two games.

The 37-year-old has 21 TD passes compared to just two interceptions in only eight games.

He joined Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and Aaron Rodgers as the only QBs to throw at least 20 TDs and no more than three picks in the first eight games of a season. Stafford, who has 16 TD passes and no picks in the last five games, has his Los Angeles Rams among the Super Bowl odds front-runners.

And he's poised, ready to jump all over any Darnold missteps to claim first place in these power rankings.

🦬 Allen back to his best against Chiefs

Josh Allen improved to 5-1 against Mahomes, last season's most clutch QB, in the regular season.

Allen put on a masterclass, not only accruing 273 passing yards to go with three TDs (one passing and two rushing), but he also leapfrogged Mahomes on the NFL MVP odds leaderboard, becoming the favorite to repeat.

Allen was the NFL's most clutch QB through the first few weeks of the season, but endured a drop-off in Weeks 5 and 6, where he lost two straight to the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons.

He's been outstanding since coming out of the bye week and now has 78 rushing touchdowns, the most from a quarterback in NFL history. He also became the first QB with at least six rushing TDs in each of the first eight seasons to start a career.

And to culminate an emphatic, clutch Week 9, Allen has Chiefs' defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo wishing he would retire prematurely.

🟢 Darnold demolishes Commanders

I would love to hear what the Minnesota Vikings' top brass is saying in private about Darnold's MVP-caliber season. The former Vikings QB, exiled unceremoniously from Minneapolis, has been otherworldly in his first season on the West Coast.

Even before halftime in the prime-time game against the Washington Commanders, Darnold was 13-for-13 for 229 yards with four TD passes, and a 158.3 passer rating.

He finished with 330 passing yards on 21-for-24 and enters Week 10 with 16 TD passes compared to five picks. The performance against Washington marked the second time this season he has thrown four TD passes.

🗒️ More Week 9 takeaways

  • Nix now has four fourth-quarter comebacks this season, equaling Baker Mayfield for the most
  • Nix and Caleb Williams were the only QBs to orchestrate fourth-quarter comebacks in Week 9
  • Allen moved up the table from 11th to seventh
  • Mahomes dropped from a share of fourth to a share of 13th after a disappointing outing in Buffalo
  • Dak Prescott dropped from a share of fourth to a share of 10th after the Dallas Cowboys imploded on MNF against the Arizona Cardinals
  • Drake Maye improved from a share of seventh to a share of fourth after steering the New England Patriots to a sixth straight win
  • Lamar Jackson's triumphant return, in which he threw four TD passes and no interceptions against the Miami Dolphins, saw him jump from a share of 13th to a share of 10th
