NFL MVP Odds: Allen Extends Lead After Unprecedented Performance Against Rams

Josh Allen scored six touchdowns -- three rushing, three passing -- becoming the first player to achieve the feat. That performance further separated him from the competition in the race to win MVP.

Josh Allen has covered himself in glory this season, and he again set himself apart from the NFL MVP odds competition in Week 14 despite his Buffalo Bills falling 44-42 to the Los Angeles Rams.

Just when you think he has done something insurmountable, such as his passing and rushing touchdown on the same play against the San Francisco 49ers, he ascends to another level.

In Week 14, the NFL MVP odds favorite across our best sports betting sites became the first player to score three rushing and three passing touchdowns in the same game.

You have to feel for Saquon Barkley, who has done everything in his power to prove this isn't a quarterback-only award. Unfortunately, time is running out for the second-biggest MVP odds favorite despite his record-setting first season in Philly.

Josh Allen, QB, Bills (-385)

2024 stats: 3,033 passing yards, 23 TDs, 5 INTs (416 rushing yards, 9 TDs)

The same message has been reiterated to Allen at the end of numerous seasons. Cut out your mistakes, and you'll become the MVP.

Well, Allen has done exactly that, tossing just five interceptions in 13 games. He's on pace for six or seven picks, which would be at least 11 below last season's 18.

He has accounted for 11 total touchdowns over the last three games and continues to make exceptional clutch plays. The Bills' co-captain has also taken on a larger leadership role, and the team responded by securing their fifth consecutive AFC East crown with five weeks to spare.

Unless he returns to an amped-up version of his former mistake-prone self, Allen should be named MVP for the first time in his seven-year career.

Saquon Barkley, RB, Eagles (+550)

2024 stats: 266 carries, 1,623 rushing yards, 11 TDs (29 receptions, 267 yards, 2 TDs)

Another game, another 100-plus yard performance from Barkley, who amassed 124 yards on 20 carries against the Carolina Panthers in Week 14. Barkley has broken through the 100-yard threshold nine times as a rusher this season.

And with seven of those 100-yard games coming in the last eight contests, it's not like he's fading quietly into the crisp Philadelphia night.

He's averaged 142.63 yards per game in that span and capped off another productive outing against the Panthers by eclipsing the Eagles' single-season rushing record, previously set by LeSean McCoy (1,607 yards).

He'll need to carry on that 100-yard streak while receiving some self-inflicted help from Allen. If it's any consolation, Barkley is in pole position as the Offensive Player of the Year odds favorite.

Lamar Jackson, QB, Ravens (+1400)

2024 stats: 3,290 passing yards, 29 TDs, 3 INTs (678 rushing yards, 3 TDs)

After his superb five-touchdown outing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7, people were already penciling Lamar Jackson in for his third MVP honour.

That type of performance, combined with his top-tier stats, makes it easy to understand why he's among the three favorites. Since Week 5, he has 24 touchdowns compared to only two interceptions. He also leads all quarterbacks with 678 rushing yards.

Unfortunately for Jackson backers, he hasn't had his best stuff lately, losing two of the last three and three of six. Gaudy individual numbers help put you in the MVP conversation, but a disproportionate number of wins must accompany them.

Jared Goff, QB, Lions (+1800)

2024 stats: 3,265 passing yards, 25 TDs, 10 INTs (47 rushing yards)

If you exclude that anomalous outing against the Houston Texans in Week 10, where Jared Goff threw five interceptions, the Detroit Lions quarterback has been picked off only once in the last 10 games.

That interception came against the Green Bay Packers in Week 14, where he had 283 passing yards and three touchdown passes.

If the MVP Award were handed to the individual who provided the most intangibles, Goff would be the front-runner. He has led the Super Bowl odds favorites to a franchise-record 11 straight wins and beat the Texans despite throwing five picks, which, in silo, is a startling achievement.

In Week 11, Goff threw four touchdown passes and had 412 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He'll need four more similar performances to win his first MVP. He'll go head-to-head with Allen in Detroit in Week 15.

Patrick Mahomes, QB, Chiefs (+4000)

2024 stats: 3,189 passing yards, 20 TDs, 11 INTs (248 rushing yards, 1 TD)

Mahomes' MVP odds lengthened from +2800 to +4000 despite leading his team to another one-score victory.

He got hit against the Los Angeles Chargers more than one of the last men standing at a Royal Rumble. And he's inarguably the best game manager in the league this season, always finding a way to get the job done no matter how underwhelming the performance.

He'll be elated to be on the right end of a 12-1 record, but Mahomes hasn't been the MVP of years past. That won't matter to him if he can lead his Chiefs to another Super Bowl ring.
