Our college basketball player props and best bets for Tuesday based on the best college basketball odds gets you prepared for a full slate amid a slow week in the sport.

Colleges across the country are immersed in Finals Week, prompting student-athletes to prioritize academics over sports during this crucial time. As a result, we have fewer than 100 college basketball games scheduled from Monday through Friday as players shift their focus off the court.

Players, coaches, and bettors can enjoy a welcome break during this period. However, for this daily column, it might be a bit disappointing as it will likely be less active this week. Nevertheless, Tuesday's slate offers the most games during the week and is worth exploring from a betting perspective.

Here are our college basketball player props and best bets for Tuesday (odds via our best March Madness betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Tuesday’s college basketball game picks

Austin Peay +11.5 (-110 via Caesars) vs. Southern Illinois ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This line has already moved a point in Austin Peay's favor overnight, so it's worth taking the +11.5 before the spread drops any further. The latest odds at sharper books such as Bookmaker and Pinnacle indicate that is very possible.

Let's make the case for why the Governors (5-6) should keep this closer than expected, shall we?

ShotQuality projects a 70-64.7 victory for Southern Illinois, suggesting that the market is way off. It might not be that extreme, but there is a case that the Salukis (6-2) got a decent bump following their 70-68 upset victory over Oklahoma State. ShotQuality's numbers gave SIU a 32% postgame win expectancy in that one.

It's actually reminiscent of last year, when Southern Illinois earned a 61-60 win over Oklahoma State and had a 24% postgame win expectancy. The Salukis then followed that up by losing by 18 points to Southern Indiana three days later.

That level of volatility is to be expected for a Southern Illinois squad that shoots a lot of 3-pointers (37th in 3-point frequency) while limiting teams from deep (25th in 3PA allowed), of course. There is always a chance that the 3-ball is working in the Salukis' favor again on Tuesday, and completely shoot the Governors out of the gym.

But I like the idea of taking advantage of a potential overcorrection in the market. Austin Peay will try to slow this game down (344th in tempo) and take a lot of mid-range shots (sixth in frequency). That could actually work pretty well in this matchup.
