Last Updated: May 8, 2026 2:02 PM EDT • 3 minute read X Social Google News Link
The WNBA season gets underway tonight with a three-game slate that includes the Toronto Tempo's inaugural game against the Washington Mystics.
Leading off my WNBA player props today is Tempo guard Marina Mabrey, who's poised to be the star of the show for Sandy Brondello's team. I'm also backing Brittney Griner to own the glass against the WNBA championship odds favorites and Gabby Williams to shine in her debut for the Golden State Valkyries.

💰 Best NBA player prop bet today
Mabrina Mabrey Over 14.5 points (-128) vs. Mystics
Coming off a splashy season playing in Unrivaled, Mabrey should be given the keys to the Tempo's offense in their first-ever game. She can take advantage of a Mystics defense that was in the bottom half of the league in points allowed (81.6) and defensive rating (105.7).
The Tempo signed Mabrey to a max contract for a reason, and I'd expect her usage rate to be higher in Toronto than it was with the Connecticut Sun last season - she had the 10th-highest usage rate in the W last year (25.8%).
Mabrey averaged 14.4 PPG in 2025, dropping 15-plus 17 times.

Brittney Griner Over 5.5 rebounds (-135) at Liberty
The Sun were the worst team in the WNBA last season at 11-33, and though they won't be much better this season, Brittney Griner should see an uptick in production on her new team simply because they'll need the 10-time All-Star to play plenty.
Griner averaged a career-low 5.2 RPG last season for the Atlanta Dream while playing just 20.8 MPG, but was still top 20 in the W in rebound rate (14.8%). With the Sun down three starters tonight against the New York Liberty, Griner will likely see closer to 30 minutes on the court.
The 6-foot-9 big has pulled down 7.1 RPG for her career, and in the 13 games she played 25-plus minutes last season, she finished with six-plus boards 10 times.
🗽 Don't forget about Stewie
For more on New York and Connecticut's clash, check out my Sun vs. Liberty prediction, which includes a player prop for Breanna Stewart.
Gabby Williams Over 8.5 rebounds + assists (-118) at Storm
After making the All-Star team for the first time last season with the Seattle Storm, Gabby Williams gets to take on her former team in her debut with the Valkyries. One of the best all-around players in the W, Williams was one of just two forwards to average four-plus assists last season.
Her playmaking prowess should continue to shine on a Golden State team that has capable shooters surrounding her and led the W in 3-pointers per game last season (9.7). Williams' rebounding ability should also come in handy against a Seattle team that was last in RPG (30.9) and gave up the most RPG (36.0) last season.
It doesn't help the Storm's rebounding efforts that it's without starting center Ezi Magebegor and No. 3 pick Awa Fam.
🚀 Best WNBA parlay picks today
My WNBA player props tonight are all focused on veteran players playing with new teams that need them to take on bigger roles. Mabrey, Griner, and Williams will all be focal points for their new teams, and should all have the opportunities to hit these Overs.
