🏀 Dream vs. Fever prediction & best bet
🎯 Score prediction: Fever 90, Dream 82
The Stephanie White era in Indianapolis is off to a hot start, with the Fever's new bench boss helping the team flatten the Chicago Sky 93-58 in the season opener. Clearly, the addition of White is already paying dividends defensively, with Indiana allowing the fewest points per game and registering the league's top defensive rating (68.2) through one game.
While playing that level of suffocating defense likely won't be sustainable against the Dream, Atlanta did struggle with efficiency in its opener, and that could bite them against Indiana. Despite Brionna Jones and Brittney Griner joining Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray this season, Atlanta shot just 40.5% from the floor against the Washington Mystics in its opener.
That just won't get the job done against a Fever offense that should be among the best this season, thanks to Clark. The superstar sophomore put up a triple-double during Indiana's first game of the year while Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, and Natasha Howard all chipped in 15-plus points. Those four, plus DeWanna Bonner and Lexie Hull, should be too much for Karl Smesko's squad to handle.
The Dream gave up the most points in the WNBA during their opening game (94) and sit last in defensive rating (122.4) because of it after allowing the Mystics to shoot 50.8% from the floor and 50% from behind the arc. Clark should easily be able to exploit the issues with Atlanta's perimeter defense.
Look for Clark to be just as lethal behind the arc as she is as a passer, with Boston and Bonner leading the Fever's frontcourt.
✅ Best bet: Fever -7 (-110 via Caesars)

👀 Star prop to watch: Caitlin Clark Over 10.5 assists

It's safe to assume Clark is set to lead the WNBA in assists again after putting up 8.4 per game as a rookie.
The WNBA MVP favorite managed 10 apples in 32 minutes against the Sky, and she should be able to reach at least 11 against a more competitive Dream team. Clark played 35.4 minutes per game as a rookie, and she'll likely get closer to that against Atlanta.
With the Dream's defensive problems, Clark can take advantage of a team that allowed 20.1 assists per game last year while finding her talented teammates in the paint - Boston and Bonner. That duo is positioned to get plenty of open looks with Atlanta focusing on slowing Clark as a scorer.
