Australian Open Odds, Picks, Predictions: Will Djokovic Claim his Tenth Men's Title?

World No. 5 Novak Djokovic seeks his record tenth Australian Open title. Read on for our Australian Open tennis odds and picks. (ATP rankings as of Saturday, Jan. 14)
Djokovic was not eligible to participate in last year's Australian Open, as he was deported from the country after not receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Thus, the rest of the Men's Draw at the Australian Open likely let out a collective groan when authorities announced that they would lift Djokovic's ban for 2023, as the Serbian has dominated the major like no other before him. Djokovic won three consecutive Australian Open titles from 2019-21 before last year. He is looking to extend his record to 10 Australian Open titles (no other player has more than six).
In Djokovic's absence, history was made in the Men's Draw of last year's Australian Open. Rafael Nadal beat Daniil Medvedev for his 21st Grand Slam title, breaking a tie with Djokovic and Roger Federer. Nadal now has 22 major titles (after winning the French Open) to Djokovic's 21.
The odds leaderboard for the 2023 Australian Open was shaken up considerably when world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz withdrew due to a leg injury. Alcaraz won five singles titles in 2022 and finished the year 57-13. His absence made Rafael Nadal this tournament's No. 1 seed.

Who Will Win the 2023 Men’s Australian Open?
Novak Djokovic (-110 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Laying -110 odds with any player pre-tournament may not be the most exciting thing to do, but Djokovic is so dominant and is every bit worthy of being the odds-on favorite. His nine Australian Open titles are the second-most of any male player at one Grand Slam, trailing only Nadal's 14 French Open titles.
He could have an interesting matchup with Aussie Alex de Minaur, as the crowd would be full-throttle against him. However, Djokovic is an overwhelming -280 favorite at DraftKings to at least reach the semifinals and would likely be a similarly big moneyline favorite in his semifinal or final match.
Daniil Medvedev (+600 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The former World No. 1 Medvedev was unfortunately placed in the same quarter as Nadal, whom he lost to in last year's Australian Open Final. However, Nadal should not be as feared as he was in the past, as the Spaniard played just four tournaments after the US Open ended last year, winning just one match. Nadal's 2023 campaign has also started disappointingly, losing to Cameron Norrie and de Minaur at the United Cup.
Medvedev was up two sets to none in the final last year, and if he can get over that mental hurdle, +600 odds for the second player listed on the odds board are more than generous.
Taylor Fritz (+2000 via BetMGM ⭐⭐
DraftKings has an interesting prop bet with regard to any American player winning a quarter. To bet "yes," one would have to lay -140 odds. Considering that Fritz is the only American in the top 12 by the odds (Sebastian Korda is next at +3500), the sportsbook may be tipping its hand that Fritz is a favorite to make the semifinals at least. He would have to navigate a quarter with No. 2 seed Casper Ruud, and while Ruud won their only head-to-head meeting on a hard-court tournament in Italy in 2022, it took a third-set tiebreak to do so.
We cannot pass up Fritz's +2000 odds, considering he is as low as +1600 elsewhere, and backing him pre-tournament opens up profitable hedge opportunities if one thought he was incapable of beating Djokovic in a semifinal match.
