The holiday weekend closes out with an American League matchup between the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Angels tonight. Boston has started to string together wins in its push for a playoff spot, while the Angels will look to snap a five-game losing skid and regain momentum. It's Ranger Suarez vs. Ryan Johnson on the mound for this late-night tilt as I make my Red Sox vs. Angels prediction.

My MLB picks include a total, two player props, and a same-game parlay. First pitch from Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., is set for 9:30 p.m. ET (NBCSN, Peacock). The Red Sox are a -162 betting favorite as they aim to complete a series sweep of the Angels.

🏆 Who will win Red Sox vs. Angels?

It's tough to envision a win by the Angels in this game. Ranger Suarez is pitching well for the Red Sox, giving up four earned runs and logging 17 strikeouts in his last two starts. He doesn't give up many home runs, which the Angels' offense heavily leans on for production.

Ryan Johnson has rebounded nicely after his first two starts. Against a streaky Red Sox lineup with a good pitcher like Suarez, I expect a fairly low-scoring game, with Boston recording a 4-2 win at Angel Stadium.

Score prediction: Red Sox 4, Angels 2

💰 Red Sox vs. Angels prediction & best bet

Under 8.5 (-110)

This American League series has led to low-scoring results. The Red Sox and Angels have gone under 8.5 total runs in three of the last four head-to-head matchups

Ranger Suarez is our ticket to cashing under 8.5 on Sunday night. Boston's southpaw ranks 96th in pitching run value (16) this year, while somehow topping that metric with a fastball run value sitting in the 98th percentile. Suarez also does a good job limiting hard contact with a barrel rate (5.4) and hard-hit rate (31.5) both in the 80th percentile or higher

Head to Caesars and bet under 8.5 at -110 odds.

📡 SBR Edge: Angels Lineup Struggles

Los Angeles has not scored more than three runs in five straight games. This is a big reason for their losing skid during this five-game stretch. It won't get easier against Suarez on Sunday night.

🔥 Best Red Sox vs. Angels player prop bet

Caleb Durbin Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBIs (-105)

Caleb Durbin is batting sixth in the Red Sox lineup against a relatively raw pitcher in Ryan Johnson tonight. Durbin was held without a hit in five plate appearances on Saturday, yet he's recorded a hit in three of his previous five starts. It's led to Durbin cashing this prop twice, including his eighth homer of the year against the Angels on Friday.

Durbin has a talent for getting on base. He's ranked in the 85th percentile or higher for strikeout rate, whiff rate, and squared-up rate.

With hitters like Wilyer Abreu, Willson Contreras, and Jarren Duran ahead of him in Boston's lineup, one hit could cash over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBIs against Johnson or the Angels bullpen on Sunday night.

Bet on Durbin to go Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBIs at -105 odds on FanDuel.

💣 Red Sox vs. Angels home run prediction

Zach Neto to hit a home run (+425)

There's a reason why Zach Neto leads the Angels in home runs (18) this season. He's in the 81st percentile for barrel rate (13.0), meaning he's capable of maxing out his exit velocity with an ideal launch angle.

Ranger Suarez has been fairly dominant for the Red Sox this season. The southpaw has only surrendered five home runs, although he did get shelled in his last start on the road against the Nationals.

Suarez's biggest liability is his fastball velo, which sits in the bottom-six percentile at 91.1. Neto could be set up to record his 19th home run of the year tonight, snapping a five-game drought.

Head to bet365 to place this home run prop ticket on Zach Neto at +425 odds.

🚀 Red Sox vs. Angels same-game parlay

Let's roll out another 1+ hit SGP that targets Willson Contreras and Josh Lowe. Contreras is red-hot for the Red Sox, with five hits in his last three starts, while Lowe also has at least one hit in four of his previous five outings.

💵 Red Sox vs. Angels SGP picks

  • Willson Contreras Over 0.5 Hits (-210)
  • Josh Lowe Over 0.5 Hits (-130)

Best odds: +161 via FanDuel (0.75u -> 1.2u)

💡 How I'm betting Red Sox vs. Angels: MLB strategy

Follow all of our MLB analysis and expert predictions for baseball season.

I'm staking a total of 3.16 units across four wagers in tonight's Red Sox vs. Angels finale.

Under 8.5 warrants a 1.1 unit wager, while another 1.05 units on Caleb Durbin in the Hits+Runs+RBIs prop market leaves us with just 2.16 units risked for my primary bets.

Of course, I'm scaling down to 0.25 units for a home run prop on Zach Neto at +425. Then a 0.75 unit play on a two-leg SGP hit parlay on Willson Contreras and Josh Lowe to haul in 1.61 units of profit.
