The Boston Red Sox clash with the Philadelphia Phillies to open a three-game set Tuesday on TBS, and we're breaking down the matchup with our Red Sox vs. Phillies player props based on the best MLB odds.

The launchpad otherwise known as Fenway Park will play host to the Philadelphia Phillies and their slugging ways on Tuesday, with the first pitch against the Red Sox expected at 7:10 p.m. ET on TBS.

The Phillies are surging, as they have been for much of the season. They lead MLB with a sparkling 45-20 record, which is why they're perched among the leading contenders in our World Series odds.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox have been treading water lately while sitting right at .500 (33-33). However, their plus-30 run differential (fifth in the AL) indicates the club's potential to rise.

Here are our best Red Sox vs. Phillies player props and MLB picks.

Phillies vs. Red Sox expert picks

Zack Wheeler Over 6.5 strikeouts ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The strikeout Over for the opposing pitcher is very often the play when the Boston Red Sox are involved. And especially so when said pitcher is the leading NL contender in our Cy Young odds.

Zack Wheeler paces a muddled NL field, and he's doing it with a 10.2 K/9 that sits seventh in the senior circuit. He leans heavily on a lethal four-seam fastball that Wheeler is throwing  42.2% of the time. It's a devastating weapon, and opponents are hitting just .187 against it, according to Baseball Savant.

The Red Sox have struck out the third-most times in all of MLB, making them a highly appealing matchup for a pitcher who sits ninth in that category. Several of their regulars whiff often, and most notably Tyler O'Neil, whose 33.1% strikeout rate is in the bottom 5% of MLB.

Add it all up, and it's easy to see why the odds for Wheeler to go Over this strikeout total on Tuesday are generally short across our best sportsbooks. However, the -140 through FanDuel notably leads to more value than the -155 at bet365.

A $10 wager at those odds would result in a $17.14 payout, with an implied probability of 58.3%.

Best odds: -140 via FanDuel

Alec Bohm Over 1.5 total bases ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Phillies are a group of slugging behemoths, and they sit among the top five leaguewide in runs and OPS. And now they get to swing for the moon while facing Kutter Crawford, who has been stumbling significantly after a promising start to the season.

Crawford has allowed four-plus earned runs in four of his past five outings, and he's coughed up a homer in all but one appearance since the beginning of May. The result was an opponents' OPS that ballooned from .527 during the first month of the season to .742 during the second.

So enter Alex Bohm, the Phillies' infielder who's slashing .291/.348/.467, and he's doing a whole lot of damage against four-seam fastballs, a pitch Crawford throws the most at 33.8%. Bohm boasts a .364 batting average against that pitch and is slugging .545. That impressive production has made him a mid-tier contender in our MLB MVP odds.

It's a favorable matchup to pounce on through several of our best sports betting sites offering -115 odds. That includes bet365, and a $10 wager would translate to an $18.70 profit, with implied odds of 53.48%.

Best odds: -115 via bet365
