The Chicago Cubs look to sustain their much needed momentum while going for a road sweep of the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park at 3:10 p.m. ET (ABC). The starting pitching matchup is between Ryan Rolison and Logan Webb, and the Giants are -140 betting favorites.

My Cubs vs. Giants prediction backs the home favorites behind their ace, who has been masterful in three starts since returning from injury. Along with a Webb walks prop, I am backing a San Francisco slugger to go deep off of Rea with the last of my MLB picks.

🏆 Who will win Cubs vs. Giants?

San Francisco is just 1-5 in Webb’s last six starts dating back to before his injury, but he has received three or fewer runs of support four times in that span. With better offense behind him, I like the Giants to scratch out a victory.

Score prediction: Giants 4, Cubs 2

💰 Cubs vs. Giants prediction & best bet

Giants ML (-135)

Logan Webb only lasted 4.1 innings in his first start after a 24-day IL stint. But since then, he has gotten back to being a true innings eater.

Webb's last two starts were his MLB-best 62nd and 63rd instances of seven-plus innings pitched since the start of 2021. In the three starts since returning from injury, he has pitched to a 0.93 ERA over 19.1 innings. He has also allowed a .138 OBA and induced a 57.1% ground ball rate, to go along with a 0.67 WHIP and 16:4 K:BB ratio.

📡 SBR Edge: Early season collapse

When Chicago fell to 34-34 after losing its first two games of a series against Colorado, it set a record for the earliest team by the calendar to fall to .500 after being 15 games over .500 in a season.

🔥 Best Cubs vs. Giants player prop bet

Logan Webb Under 1.5 walks (-110)

Seemingly, the only thing that cut Webb’s first start post-injury short was control issues, as he allowed three or more walks for the third time this season. But he has surrendered just one walk over his last 15 innings, suggesting that his shaky start against the Rockies could have had as much to do with the altitude at Coors Field as rustiness from a lack of repetitions. He looks back in ace form, as his last outing was his first start of eight-plus innings since May 2025.

The Cubs draw walks at the third-highest rate in the league, but much of that plate discipline was when the offense was firing on all cylinders. Chicago had the highest scoring offense in the league through May 8 (5.51 runs per game), but averaged a second-worst 3.4 runs per game entering the weekend since then.

💣 Cubs vs. Giants home run prediction

Matt Chapman to hit a home run (+820)

Matt Chapman entered this series with a .609/.645/1.217 slash line over the previous seven games. In reaching base 20 times while driving in 16 runs over that seven-game span, he became the first Giants player to do that since Willie Mays in 1958.

Chapman got off to a slow start with a .227/.301/.305 slash line and one home run through his first 37 games. But over the next 31, he broke out with a .306/.397/.541 slash line and five home runs.

The Giants slugger is 5-for-8 with a home run against Colin Rea, who will enter the game after an opener. The righty is part of a Cubs rotation that has the second-worst ERA in the NL, while allowing an MLB-worst 66 home runs.

🚀 Cubs vs. Giants same-game parlay

All three legs of this same-game parlay work towards the same goal of helping San Francisco win outright. And even though Chapman has two multi-home run games over the last eight, I'm giving myself more of a chance to cash this SGP by backing him to drive in a run. He has at least one RBI six of his previous nine games.

💵 Cubs vs. Giants SGP picks

  • Giants ML (-135)
  • Logan Webb Under 0.5 walks (-110)
  • Matt Chapman Over 0.5 RBI (+195)

Best odds: +880 via bet365 (0.1u -> 0.88u)

💡 How I'm betting Cubs vs. Giants: MLB strategy

Follow all of our MLB analysis and expert predictions for baseball season.

The only Cubs pitcher I trust right now is Ben Brown, who has pitched to a 1.44 ERA over six starts since being moved from the bullpen to the rotation. Thus, I am fading Colin Rea who has pitched to a 7.12 road ERA. And from a home run prop perspective, I was always going to look to a Giants slugger, considering Chicago ranks 23rd in home runs since May 8.

📊 Live Cubs vs. Giants odds

Despite the early betting splits being 61/39 in support of San Francisco, there is a case of reverse line movement, as the Giants moneyline odds have lowered from -148 to -138 at FanDuel, and five cents (from -145 to -140) at BetMGM.

The only top sports betting site that has seen movement on the total so far is bet365, who opened at an O/U of 8 like the rest of the market, but has since lowered to 7.5.
