💰 Best NRFI bets today (Friday)
Blue Jays vs. Cubs NRFI (-160) - 4:10 p.m. ET
- Kevin Gausman (3.41 ERA) vs. Ben Brown (1.74 ERA)
- NRFI records: Blue Jays (38-37) vs. Cubs (44-31)
On one side, Brown is holding opposing hitters to a measly .186 batting average. Because he's done such a great job of suppressing hard contact this year, don't expect the Jays to get the sustained traffic in the first. On the other side, Gausman has given up just 16 walks over 87 innings this season. He doesn't give away free passes, which forces the top of the Cubs' lineup to earn their way on via hits. That's going to be hard to come by, as this Chicago lineup owns just a .285 xwOBA against Gausman and is striking out at a near-30% rate. Fire this play up with confidence as part of our best NRFI bets today.

Red Sox vs. Mariners NRFI (-165) - 10:10 p.m. ET
- Ranger Suarez (3.21 ERA) vs. Bryce Miller (1.54 ERA)
- NRFI records: Red Sox (34-38) vs. Mariners (34-42)
Miller has been nearly untouchable this year, and is up against a Red Sox offense that is one of the worst in baseball. Those two together just scream NRFI to me. The Mariners' bats have also had a difficult time against Suarez, who's limited them to a .298 xwOBA and is striking them out at a 27% clip. Over 51 plate appearances against him, the left-hander hasn't walked the Mariners once , which means, yes, they're going to have to earn it today - it helps that Josh Naylor and Cal Raleigh are a combined 1-for-14 versus Suarez, too. Let's sweep the board today.

Follow all of our MLB analysis and expert predictions for baseball season.
Placing a high-variance bet like a No Run First Inning (NRFI) requires a deep dive into the data every single day. Run through this checklist before every wager, and scale your unit sizing accordingly.
❓ NRFI betting FAQ
What does NRFI mean in baseball betting?
NRFI stands for "No Run First Inning." It's a popular MLB bet that neither team will score in the first inning of a game, and the bet settles after just six outs (three per half-inning).
What does YRFI mean?
YRFI stands for "Yes Run First Inning" - the opposite of an NRFI. This MLB prop bet cashes if there's at least one run by either team in the first inning.
What should I look for when betting NRFIs?
Each team's starting pitcher is the biggest factor in cashing a NRFI bet, but you should also focus on each team's NRFI records (home vs. away) and each lineup's first-inning tendencies. Recent form can also play a bigger role than full-season numbers.
