The Sentry Odds & Favorites 2025: Schauffele the Favorite in Hawaii Without Scheffler
The PGA Tour returns from its (brief) winter hiatus this week with Xander Schauffele as the betting favorite by The Sentry odds following Scottie Scheffler's withdrawal due to injury.
The 2025 golf season begins with the first round of The Sentry on Thursday, Jan. 2 in Hawaii (Plantation Course at Kapalua). Scheffler was listed as the early betting favorite but Schauffele assumed that mantle after Scheffler had to pull out of the event. Scheffler's expected to be sidelined for several weeks.
Scheffler's early odds ranged from a low of +260 to a high of +350. Schauffele, who ranks second behind Scheffler in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), has odds around +500 (16.67% implied win probability) to win the season opener.
Bettors must note this is the first Signature Event of the PGA Tour season, and there will be a highly accomplished field of 60-plus golfers in attendance. Yet, Chris Kirk won this event with pre-tournament odds of +20000 last year, so there is hope the low scores in Hawaii open the door for another long-shot winner.
