Hoey begins this week at No. 75 in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR). The 30-year-old is coming off a T-21 finish last week and a runner-up in the Bank of Utah Championship before that. He also has a T-9 and a T-4 result during the PGA Tour's fall swing, with only one missed cut through five events.
That said, I'm not interested in betting the tournament favorite in Bermuda. Of the six winners of this event, Seamus Power at +2000 had the shortest odds. Three champions of Port Royal Golf Course had odds longer than 100-1. We have the green light to back long shots this week.

I locked in this bet for Justin Lower to win the Butterfield Bermuda Championship first thing Monday morning. While he enters the week 140th in the OWGR, he tied for third in the Bank of Utah Championship and most recently finished a respectable T-31 in the World Wide Technology Championship.
Lower is also one of the most experienced golfers in this field at Port Royal Golf Course. He played this event each of the past four years. He never finished worse than T-20 and had a top result of T-5 last year. Putting has been his biggest weakness of late, but his familiarity with the greens at Port Royal should help counteract that. His play around the greens has been very sharp, and he's averaged 0.49 strokes gained: tee-to-green across his last 16 rounds.
A winning $10 bet on Lower's Bermuda Championship odds of +11000 would return a profit of $1,100.
