With college football season back in our lives once more, I’m making my Stanford vs. Hawaii prediction based on the idea that these two offenses could come slowly out of the starting gates.

The action kicks off from Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex (Honolulu) on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET (CBS). Hawaii is a 2.5-point betting favorite.

As part of our college football Week 0 predictions, I’ve also identified value in a Micah Alejado prop relative to the tendencies of the Stanford defense - I break that down further at the end.

The opening odds saw Stanford as a 2.5-point road favorite before the script was flipped in favor of Hawaii. The Rainbow Warriors have sat at -2.5 across the best sports betting sites all week long leading up to the game, implying an expectation that Hawaii will enter this contest as a home favorite by the time kickoff rolls around on Saturday evening.

⬇️ Under 50.5 (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hawaii and Stanford both ranked among college football’s least efficient scoring offenses last year. They each ranked outside the top 100 in points per game and went 7-5 to the Under while combining to average just 40.9 PPG.

Given the offensive struggles of both sides of late, I liken this matchup to the way the games unfolded when other prominent programs in UCLA and Boise State traveled to the island last season - low-scoring affairs that both stayed below 40 total points.

As of this writing, Under 50.5 features -110 odds across bet365, FanDuel, and Caesars. Those odds would turn a winning $10 bet into a $9.09 profit with an implied probability of 52.38%. Bettors should avoid DraftKings (-112) and BetMGM (-115) for this wager - though Over bettors would want to target those two sportsbooks for the best price.

💰 Best Stanford vs. Hawaii player prop bet

Stanford vs. Hawaii Prediction, Betting Odds & Expert Picks: College Football Week 0
Pictured: Hawaii Warriors quarterback Micah Alejado (12) features as our best Stanford vs. Hawaii player prop bet. Photo by James Snook / Imagn Images.

⬆️ Micah Alejado Over 287.5 passing yards (-114) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

While we’re not projecting substantial scoring volume in this matchup, ample yardage through the air could be in store for Hawaii QB Micah Alejado against a porous Stanford secondary that has a lot to prove after last season.

The Cardinal secondary ranked 129th out of 134 FBS teams in pass defense a year ago, allowing an average of 287.5 passing yards per game. Though limited in his FBS experience, Alejado demonstrated the ability to pass for heavy volume when he racked up 469 yards against New Mexico in his final outing last year.

FanDuel offers the most favorable odds on Alejado’s passing yardage prop as of this writing, with the line set at 287.5 yards. That’s available with -114 odds on Over, meaning an implied probability of 53.27% at those odds. A winning $10 bet on this prop would profit $8.77.

In addition to Alejado, I broke down three more of my favorite Stanford vs. Hawaii player prop bets. We also have dropped our best Stanford vs. Hawaii touchdown predictions.

❓ Stanford vs. Hawaii FAQs

Who is the favorite to win Stanford vs. Hawaii?

Hawaii is favored by 2.5 points with moneyline odds of -126 to beat Stanford in Week 0.

How do college football spread odds work?

When betting on college football, the favorite needs to win by a certain number of points to cover the "point spread" - also known as the betting line. Conversely, the underdog needs to lose by fewer than the points displayed in the spread or win outright to cash. For example, a 3-point favorite would need to win by more than a field goal to reward bettors.

How do college football moneyline odds work?

When betting on college football, the underdog will have the "longer" odds and is typically priced at "plus-money" odds that indicate the profit on a $100 bet. For example, a team with +150 odds would turn a $100 bet into a $150 profit - or a $10 bet into a $15 profit - according to our odds converter.
