In the most significant game of the Week 10 slate, Ohio State takes on Penn State at Beaver Stadium in a matchup between two top four teams.

Ryan Day gets a chance at redemption when he leads Ohio State against Penn State at Beaver Stadium in University Park, Pa. on Saturday at noon ET (FOX) in a clash of two top-four teams.

  • With the Nittany Lions a 4-point underdog, our Ohio State vs. Penn State early picks think James Franklin's team is the program to back
  • Both schools are among the five programs with shorter than 15/1 college football championship odds
  • Despite the teams being ranked No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, neither boasts a Heisman Trophy odds contender with odds shorter than 50/1

There's a lot of pressure on both programs in this Big Ten matchup since this is the best game of Week 10 between AP Top 25 teams, and the first College Football Playoff rankings coming out Nov. 5.

Now that we're closer to kickoff, Mike Spector has provided us with his Ohio State vs. Penn State prediction.

There's clearly a massive issue with Ohio State's offensive line after potential first-round left tackle Josh Simmons suffered a season-ending injury against Oregon. That's the key to this matchup.

Penn State boasts one of the nation's best defensive line trios in Abdul Carter, Zane Durant, and Dani Dennis-Sutton (if he plays). They've pushed the Nittany Lions to a No. 3 ranking in SP+ defensively.

Meanwhile, Ohio State could only muster 285 yards and 21 points against Nebraska in Week 9 because of offensive line issues. While I do think the Buckeyes win, they won't cover.

The health of Penn State QB Drew Allar will be key to the Nittany Lions covering. He exited late in the second quarter against Wisconsin last week. If Allar can't play, this line could move to Buckeyes -6. If that's the case, I'd take Ohio State to cover.

Assuming Allar plays, I have Ohio State winning this one 23-20.

Our Shane Jackson is eyeing Nittany Lions receiver Harrison Wallace III to go Over his receiver yardage prop as part of his college football Week 10 player prop picks.

Moneyline

  • Ohio State best odds: -170 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 62.96%
  • Penn State best odds: +160 via bet365 | Implied probability: 38.46%

Our best sports betting sites don't differ much on the moneyline, with the Buckeyes sitting around -190 at most.

That's why this price at FanDuel (-170) is definitely the best to back, with a $10 winning bet leading to a $5.88 profit. Penn State is between +140 and +160, and I don't expect that to change unless Allar is ruled out.

Spread

  • Ohio State best odds: -4 (-110) via DraftKings
  • Penn State best odds: +3.5 (-104) via FanDuel

Most of our best NFL betting sites are featuring Ohio State as a 4-point favorite with -110 odds. FanDuel is the exception, with Penn State being +3.5 at -104.

Again, the line movement will depend on if Allar plays. SP+ projects a 25-24 Buckeyes win, while CFB Graphs forecasts a 23-22 win for the Buckeyes.

Over/Under

  • Over best odds: 47 (-110) via Caesars
  • Under best odds: 47.5 (-110) via BetMGM

There's a little more discrepancy with the game total in this matchup than with the spread. FanDuel is posting it lower at 46.5 (-114 Over, -106 Under) while BetMGM is offering 47.5 (-110 Over/Under).

Our other best NFL prop betting sites are all at 47 (-110 Over/Under). I'd take the Under on any of those numbers, with both defenses ranking in the top 16 in EPA per rush and dropback.

I don't expect the total to move below 46.5 at any of our best sportsbooks unless Allar is out.
