Top picks for Week 0

Florida State vs. Georgia Tech prediction: Roydell Williams Over 66.5 rushing yards ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Georgia Tech allowed the most rushing yards per game among power conference teams last season (225.7).

New Florida State starting running back Roydell Williams should be able to take advantage after having 15 runs of 10-plus yards as a backup at Alabama last year, according to PFF

Florida State vs. Georgia Tech prediction: Georgia Tech +10.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Florida State is the more talented side but is also turning over the lion's share of production from last year's team. Conversely, Georgia Tech features one of the most experienced offenses in the country behind fifth-year junior QB Haynes King.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I trust him more than Seminoles starter D.J. Uiagalelei, who transferred in after shaky seasons at Clemson and Oregon State. There's a reason the sharp money is on the Yellow Jackets.

Montana State vs. New Mexico prediction: Montana State -13.5 ⭐⭐⭐

New Mexico has been one of the worst FBS programs for years, and Bronco Mendenhall won't fix that in his first season at the helm.

The Lobos were 124th in SP+ last year and this is a Montana State program with a ferocious run game that has it among the top FCS Championship odds contenders.

Montana State vs. New Mexico prediction: Montana State -18 ⭐⭐⭐

I fully concur with Rob's analysis of this matchup, which doesn't look good for New Mexico. Not only were the Lobos dreadful last year, but they're one of the least experienced teams in the country with a new coach and quarterback.

I like the spread here as a primary play, but if you're buying the mismatch as we are, this alt-spread is a few points higher and pays out $14.5 for every $10 wagered.

SMU vs. Nevada prediction: Preston Stone Over 230.5 passing yards ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Nevada was 94th in EPA per pass on defense last season and allowed the 18th-most passing yards per game in the country (254.1).

Meanwhile, Preston Stone threw for over 230.5 in 10 of 12 games and led all Group of Five quarterbacks with 30 big-time throws, according to PFF.

SMU vs. Nevada prediction: SMU Over 40.5 points ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This may appear a daunting number to clear until you remember how good this SMU offense was last year under Stone. He helped the Mustangs score 41.8 points per game in his 12 starts, including 50.3 PPG over his final five before injury.

With a full offseason to recover and lament the sudden end to his season, Stone should have no mercy in carving up a Nevada defense that was among the nation's worst a year ago.

Delaware State vs. Hawaii prediction: Over 56.5 ⭐⭐⭐

Hawaii closed out Timmy Chang's second season as head coach by hitting the Over in five of its last eight games and plays a Delaware State team that lost 57-0 and 62-20 in its two FBS games last season.

Rainbow Warriors quarterback Brayden Schager is one of the best in the G5 and finished sixth in the country in big-time throws last year (28), according to PFF.

Delaware State vs. Hawaii prediction: Hawaii -39.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

If this game even happens—which is an open question—it's hard to see how it won't be an absolute romp for the hosts in Honolulu.

Delaware State was one of the worst teams in the FCS last season, ranking outside the top 100 in scoring offense and total defense. That's to say nothing of all the travel mishaps that won't help the Hornets acclimate before a certain beatdown.
