Ashton Jeanty and his 2,600-plus rushing yards are gone from last year’s Broncos team, and I won’t begin to pretend he is easily replaceable. But there is still plenty of talent left on the roster, and my Boise State vs. South Florida early predictions give a confident four-star lean to the Broncos at anything less than a touchdown.

Boise State brings back 67% of its production (13th-highest among FBS teams) from last year and is the only Mountain West team that returns players with more than 200 combined starts.

Quarterback Maddux Madsen is back, and an offensive line that suffered numerous injuries but still paved the way for a phenomenal season from Jeanty is healthy to start the season.

The Broncos should exploit a Bulls defense projected to finish outside the top 100 in Defensive SP+, while South Florida’s offense should struggle early after losing last season's top three running backs and two wide receivers.

Boise State plummeted from a 9.5-point favorite down to -6, with only FanDuel a half-point higher at -6.5 (-110). 

The Broncos are the only AP-ranked Group of Five team and are coming off a College Football Playoff appearance. And considering they are receiving 69% of point spread wagers, Broncos backers will want to jump on any +6s that remain before the line heads back to a touchdown or higher.

The total has been the much more stable number, with Caesars and bet365 coming down from 64 to align with all the other top sports betting sites at 63.5.
