Fanatics Sportsbook Launches in DC
It's been a whirlwind few months for the legal sports betting industry in the nation's capital. From having just one struggling option district-wide, bettors now have access to a growing number of our best sports betting sites. The list grew by one on Thursday.
Fanatics Sportsbook launched in the DC sports betting market last week, the 23rd in which the operator is available. To gain entry and allow DC residents to take advantage of Fanatics Sportsbook promo codes, it entered into a partnership with the NSWL's Washington Spirit.
The Spirit's home ground is Audi Field, a location that already has a sportsbook presence through the behemoth FanDuel. In addition to advertising and marketing, it plans to offer game-day events, such as halftime games and trivia.
Frenetic Fanatics
Earlier in the year before, well before launching DC sportsbook promos, when Fanatics launched in Wyoming, CEO Matt King of Fanatics Betting and Gaming said the company had "super-charged our expansion plans.”
The company took over PointsBet's assets in the United States in a deal finalized last October. That's given the growing site access to the Michigan sports betting, Indiana sports betting, New York sports betting, Kansas sports betting, Arizona sports betting, Illinois sports betting, and New Jersey sports betting markets.
The New Jersey launch completed the takeover, but it wasn't the end for Fanatics, which went live in Louisiana in August.
Other news
Despite launching markets all across the nation, Fanatics hasn't slowed down.
The sportsbook has been part of the Maryland sports betting scene since August 2023, but it made another splash in the Old Line State in June. That's when it signed an expanded merchandising deal with the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL.
The deal gave Fanatics access to retail sales in M&T Bank Stadium and allowed them to “curate collections unique to the Ravens that celebrate both the culture of Baltimore and the fan base’s passion for the team.”
Fanatics also made headlines in the Tennessee sports betting scene in July. During the MLB Home Run Derby, a resident crushed the Fanatics 5 Jackpot, cashing in on a huge payday.
Roydon Hudson picked the winner of four first-round matchups, the total number of home runs they'd hit, and an Under on Adolis Garcia's longest opening-round tater. The payday was $900,000 and a congratulatory call from Fanatics founder and CEO Michael Rubin.
