Where were you on Sept 11, 2001?

I was at the Excalibur in Vegas, the 1st floor right next to the entrance to the pool. Heard lots of commotion in the hall( alot more than normal in Vegas), than looked out at the pool, saw a ton of people there, watched the tv for a few hours, than went in the casino, and everything was normal, except that all sports had been cancelled for the week I was staying in Vegas.

Was lucky to have a room paid for in advance as flights were under lockdown for 3 days, and there were a ton of people stranded in Vegas without a room.

All the electronic lights and billboards on MGM, NewYork NewYork, etc.. were all american flags saying United we stand as opposed to casino advertising.

Played cards with alot of folks from the New York area , who didn't have a clue where certain friends or family were who may have worked in the towers that day.

I was on my way to work downtown Dallas listening to Howard stern. The first plane hit and I was like WTF what moron hits a building. Then they said a 2nd hit I knew we were under attack I busted a u and went back home I knew something was wrong and wanted to be home with my family cause I expected planes to hit every city

I had just woke up to see the North tower had already been hit. Two minutes later, I saw the South tower get hit live on TV. Work called, and told me not to even bother coming in. I still remember going outside that night, and looking up at the sky. It was the first time in my entire life that I had never seen a plane in the air somewhere on a clear night.

I was at work at a water bottling plant listening to sports radio. to this day whenever they show the towers on tv its like being in a trance or something. crazy.

I had been granted my v.i.s.a. to move to the US a couple of weeks earlier and I was actually on a flight from the UK to the US at the time. Our flight was diverted to Newfoundland and we spent 7-8 hours on the tarmac before we were allowed to deplane. We were all processed through a makeshift immigration and taken to the Mile One Centre where we were allowed to make a phone call and given food/drinks .. a couple of hours later we were put on a bus and taken to a Salvation Army, where I slept on a pew for the next 8-10 days ... we were given three square meals each day, and we were taken care of by some fantastic people ... until our flight was eventually allowed to continue on to its final destination.

working on the new DC convention center, our supervisor was from Jersey his bro had called and told him about the first one ,turn on the news just in time to hear about the second one and heard about the pentagon, took our 125 ft JLG up to the top to see the smoke rising, remebeering scattering to GTF out of DC, word about not knowing where 93 was but tht it was heading towards DC....still cant believe how, weather wise, how nice a day it was

Marketing class. We turned on the TV after the 1st plane had crashed. I remember saying "who's the idiot who flew his plane into the WTC" We all just assumed it was an accident at 1st.

sophomore year of high school, just got done with gym class when the baseball coach told me to come into his office and listen to the radio that he had playing. then they put the high school on lockdown until they figured out what the hell was going on.

at work standing outside watching one of my contractors work, I can remember the exact place I was standing when my brother called and told me that the first plane had flown into the trade center. I had a friend that lived up the road from where I was so I went up to his house and watched it on CNN.

Watching some retrospective stuff tonight. Still makes me sick to my stomach watching people jump out of the Towers because they were burning up. Fukking disgusting.

I was on the phone asking the company I contracted for, for an advance. I got back to the truck and the 'tard that worked for me told me the U.S. was being attacked. He was listening to Howard Stern. It was funny at first cause I thought the 'tard was fukked, he told me the Chinese were attacking the U.S. I said ya right.
Then I went home after work and saw the magnitude of the situation. I thanked God that I lived in Canada.

Something woke me up and I turned on the TV and saw building 1 burning. Just like everybody that could, I watched TV the whole day shocked. More shocked about the things those of us that have looked, have learned the past 10 years though. Crazy to know things aren't what you think they are

Was working up in Alaska in Denali National Park..Was dead a sleep when it happned due to the 4 hour time difference. My neighbor woke me up and my roommate. Couldn't not believe what I was seeing. Was called into a meeting with all the execs of the hotel where I worked, here I am some lowly Bell Captain in a room with the President and GM's, there are asking what my opinion is how to handle the frigging luggage. At that point I did not give a rats ass..

Was at work and and was told by a buddy of mine when each plane hit the towers, I thought it was an accident too when i was told about the 1st plane, figured it was a single engine and a wing got clipped or something along those lines, after he said a 2nd plane hit i knnew then it was terrorism.

It took some of the sting out of what was going on for most of the day. Then the gravity of it hit me when the towers fell.

I was at home in Bloomington, MN, woke up after all had already happened, went to work and watched TV there the whole day.

I was a Junior at Clio High School in Michigan. I was sitting in Auto Shop class when another teacher burst in the classroom and told our teacher to turn the TV on a plane had just flown into the World Trade Center. We watched as the second plane hit. We watched CNN and FoxNews in every class for a month straight and the rest of the year in History class. I joined the Army when I graduated the next year.
