Conceal my ass we got open carry in Tennessee and Alabama, don't worry I will shoot, but proving self defense is not always easy if no witnesses or video you most likely will be charged even if your lucky enough to get it dropped later. That's how it is in the southeast USA anyway.
You are very naive if you think a prosecutor want charge you when you are certain it was self defense, without some great evidence to back you up.
Can't remember the year but Alabama past the best self defense law in the country at the time in 2014 or 2015 somewhere around then. Before they past it. If they were not in your house and not shot in the back, self defense was almost impossible to prove. I don't know if they have changed any since then but it was a good law.
