GOP slammed over 'bait and switch' on Trump campaign promise

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) took to the floor of Congress on Monday afternoon to accuse Republicans of a "bait and switch" after spending the 2024 election promising lower grocery prices.

"The Republican bait and switch has three elements," Jeffries began. "Part one: talk about lowering the high cost of living, but do nothing about it."

He continued, "Part two, enact massive tax cuts for billionaires and wealthy corporations that will do nothing to improve the quality of life of everyday Americans."

Jeffries also included in part three that the GOP is attempting to "stick working-class Americans with the bill for those massive tax cuts for billionaires and wealthy corporations by destroying Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid as we know it."

Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) read aloud Donald Trump's 2024 promises about the high cost of groceries, particularly eggs. With a poster of eggs behind him, Krishnamoorthi said the cost of eggs "has risen from $6.59 on Inauguration Day to $7.53 today."

Would that not be great. I'm hopeful but skeptical. Across the board cuts is not the way. It's the lazy way. They got to dig in and find the waste inside the departments. You don't throw the whole barrel of apples out because there is some that are bad. You dig the bad ones out and save the rest. Cutting funding across the board for research hospitals is an awful move.

Edward Coristine, the 19-year-old employee of Elon Musk’s DOGE, known online as “Big Balls,” has been appointed senior adviser at the State Department, The Washington Post reports.

Some U.S. officials expressed alarm about Coristine’s new perch at the bureau, which serves as the IT department for Washington’s diplomatic apparatus.

All of the department’s IT and data management functions were centralized at the bureau during an overhaul before Trump returned to office, making it a treasure trove of information.

“This is dangerous,” said one of the U.S. officials, noting Coristine’s age and a report by Bloomberg that he was fired for leaking a data security firm’s information to a competitor.

And it gets worse. Thanks to Trump’s last-term genius move of centralizing all State Department IT and data management, this walking shitpost now has access to everything. Classified intelligence, foreign policy strategies, encrypted diplomatic communications—just chilling there, waiting for some dumbass to YOLO it into a Discord server.

Trump at the Superbowl was soundly booed and hissed. Heard clearly on international coverage and commented on in multiple countries.

But cowardly US TV networks overlayed canned 'cheers' instead.

Part one: He's literally been there 3 weeks. The first 13 months under Obama we lost jobs, I guess that's his fault?

Part Two: To be clear, tariffs are actually taxes on corporations that will be passed onto the consumer, but corporate taxes won't be passed onto the consumer and shouldn't be cut?

Part Three: What taxes have been cut so far? If they're corporate taxes, please explain how tariffs are inflationary but the corporate tax isn't.

"The administration's stance is that by electing him, the country gave Trump total authority to do anything he’d like.

But that justification renders Congress superfluous.

Why go through the charade of making policy if the president can just ignore laws?"

The last election is a story of a White House hijacked by voter suppression powered by the actions of vigilantes.

Trump’s return to power wasn’t a triumph of democracy — it was a masterclass in disenfranchisement.

In just the week before Trump took power, CFPB:

                                                          - ordered a major auto lender to return $10M to customers
                                                          - ordered CashApp to refund $120M to customers
                                                          - sued Capital One for cheating people out of interest payments

USAID's office of inspector general is still apparently operational and just put out a report on the impact of staff reductions and foreign aid freeze.

It concludes $489 MILLION of food assistance was put at risk

And this somehow makes America Great Again?

In 2022 they claimed that since inflation was a global problem it couldn't be blamed on Biden, yet still blamed Putin.
