America's Demo-Leftist conundrum.
We are in a weird purgatory of sorts where we all know they are lying, they know they are lying, their supporters full well know they are lying, the liars know we know they are lying, and we all just kind of are watching them go thru the motions.

no need to explain anything. Your highlighted sentence is 100% incorrect. Freedom of speech means you DO get to say what is legitimate for others to believe. You can agree, disagree, ignore it, debate it, and all sorts of thing I suppose.Originally posted by jackpot269You can try to explain this, to people who support the GOP until the end of time, and they still will never understand. They think Its only freedom of speech when it is them speaking.

Freedom of speech means you don't get to say what is legitimate for others to believe.
Whether you or I feel hopeful for Venezuela should be irrelevant when it comes to what people can say or support in Australia.
A Fair Go For Everyone is the ethos our culture is built upon. And sometimes the cost of that is shutting up and putting up with people saying sh*t we think is dumb.
I'm very happy police will move on selfish zealots who want to shut down any Aussies right to a fair go... even those I dislike.
I am not sure you can relate to or understand that. Or even believe I can really feel that way. But I think the majority of Aussies know what I am saying and agree with it. It's one of the basic fundamental differences between AU and USA.Leave a comment:

I'll agree with that. I do not know enough about what was really going on in Venezuela nor the history of this type of thing to feel one way or another about it. However, the US did something similar with Noriega in the a few decades ago.
It seems like the vast majority of Venezuelans are happy about it so I trust that they are the ones that know exactly how things were under Maduro. I think we should probably listen to them and what they endured to shape our opinion. I'm certainly not going to listen to any politician or media to sway me one way or another.
I agree with Dwight as far as it is comical how whatever Trump does, his opposition takes the other side no matter how vile it is. It is an interesting case study for sure.
I hope the UN has the balls to say something about it if it is against international law.
But I also hope his heavy handed tactics end up with positive results for ordinary people.
I just don't know what to think really. Concern I guess is my only emotion thus far.
Why do you bring up Noriega? Surely that is one of the worst examples of inhuman military action for corporate greed that was also justified as being done to help the people?
A documentary about the carpet bombing of an entire suburb and thousands of victims hidden in mass graves was made in 1992 and banned from release in the USA. It's worth watching and might make you shudder at the parallels being seen played out right now in Venezuela.

I have no feelings about the legitimacy of the Venezuelan govt. I can accept that i don't know enough to be telling anyone what they should be thinking about the situation. More power to you feeling like you have such great insight about it that you can call people retards for thinking anything different to the MAGAworld script.
My post was purely in answer to your ironic comment, "There's an actually pro-Maduro rally in Australia LOL", once again showing you are a lost soul when it comes to recognizing what freedom is and the cost and worth of it.

Opti, 60+ countries didn't recognize Maduro are the president because he stole the election. Are they all wrong? By all accounts, he lost lost the election by 40%. It wasn't even close.
Only a retard would rally in support for Maduro. Sorry if that seems harsh but the truth doesn't care about your feelings.

You say illegitimate.Originally posted by DwightShruteOpti, I am not against people anywhere, including your country, protesting whatever their heart pleases. But on behalf of a illegitimate president dictator? LOL. Just like everywhere else, there are really stupid clueless people out there. Australia has them too. That's no reflection on your. They had a pro Maduro rally in Vancouver. Stupid doesn't have borders.
Thankfully your country is mostly comprised of decent people and only a few retarded ones protesting for the return of a tyrant who killed thousands of his own people and destroyed his country.
Surely, you must feel hopeful for the people of Venezuela after what they have been through under Chavez and Maduro for the past 25 years?

Thankfully in Australia anyone can get local govt approval to hold a protest about pretty much anything without being subjected to undue harassment as they express their opinion. Even hardcore pro socialism groups.
Remember the openly nazi supportive groups who organized anti immigration rallies a few months ago... and the "liberal" lefty govt stood up for them to do that without harassment too?
That's how it works in a true freedom loving country. A fair go for all the people.
I don't think even you really want to live in a place non-approved speech is suppressed. Even though very often that appears to be what you want for America Dwight.
The vast majority of Australians are not yet mindless "free speech absolutist" types who will put up with agitators turning up at opposition protests trying to create unrest.
He wasn't arrested for chanting USA. He wasn't even arrested for anything. Just moved on for waving an offensive placard and screaming "commie scum" in peoples faces to try and get cool youtube content.
I think it's one of the great things about Australia that we can have sensible laws that put the rights of "the people" first. Without care for ideologically driven zealots thinking they have an inalienable personal right to act like c****.

The difficulty of the challenge doesn’t decide the outcome. Your next step does. Giving up is just choosing the surest way to lose.
And we don’t need to sing Kumbaya, or even like each other, to pull together toward a mutually beneficial goal. We just need to pull.

I'd give a higher probability to civil wars in western countries at some point than everybody coming together and singing Kumbaya. It would probably take a catastrophic event to occur for people to come together like aliens invading or something similar...Leave a comment:
