To me, best is an opinion. Especially regarding the subject at hand. When I see the far Left hating on DeSantis like they do, it only solidifies my opinion. North Dakota has a real good governor also but they are small potatoes compared to a state like Florida. Hard to compare the two fairly.

I mean, first off, many will agree with my assessment. You won't, I get that. I base it off what I have heard his do since being governor. He handled Covid better than most States. I don't think schools were shut down as long as other States. Businesses definitely weren't shut down for very long. I have several friends that live there and they said it was hardly noticeable. He gave the jab to senior facilities first despite the CDC saying not to. The CDC later admitted they were wrong and DeSantis was correct. He hired more police. He paid cops more. He enforced laws preventing people who when BLM terrorists tried to block freeways. He just passed a law outlawing squatters to take over your home while you are away. There are many more reasons. But he sure as hell seems to put his State first over political BS. Sure, he ain't perfect and there will always be criticisms.

No there was no huge turnover when Trump or Biden took office. The SS is not a political organization. Employees cannot proclaim allegiance to either party, nor attend rallies, etc. The president selects the Director but other positions are normal federal jobs. They don't come and go with new presidents. They're duty is to protect both parties elected leaders. They also prevent fraud, counterfeiting, etc.

I don't necessarily agree totally with the first 4 sentences. They do but mostly for the wrong reasons. But I definitely can relate with the bold part

I just don’t think the president can do much without support of congress. The people ultimately rule. The far left and right have the biggest mouths but I believe the majority of people are in the middle.I am active in my community, city and state. The minute things go off the rails. People get too stupid, I’ll go somewhere else. I love Houston. It’s the most diverse city in the world. People get along here. We don’t have dumb political fights. Most folks are reasonable. We support each other and are eager to help those not as fortunate. It’s a very giving city. We give to immigrants and don’t treat them like criminals. I wish the majority of the US was more like Houston.

I guess it comes down to your definition of 'reasonable'. Mine and yours won't be identical. I think we can both agree. Being an immigrant myself, I am not anti immigrant. I am all for legal immigration. If you break the law, aren't you a criminal? Crminal: a person who has committed a crime. If you enter another country illegally, then aren't you already breaking the law and thus a criminal? Of course, there are different levels of crime such. Not wearing your seatbelt and murder. Civil and criminal. Unlawful entry is a felony from what I read.

the US takes in 1.2 million immigrants legally every year. No other country comes close. These people immigrated within the laws of the country made by civil servants elected by THE PEOPLE who live there. Reasonable people have sympathy for the millions of people who have made the journey to the southern border in order to enter another country illegally, they are breaking the law. If is NOT Americas responsibility to take in everyone that wants to come to the US.

The elected civil servant's number one priority should always be its citizens. Their country first above all else.

Immigration is very complex. It is not so cut and dry Trump has tried to make it. Trump is known to be an isolationist. That is not the way to remain the world’s power. We need talent. We need immigrants. We need millions of new workers each year. Where do you think they come from? You have to manage it. Totally shutting off the talent will never work. Even Trump knows that. Here’s a good read on the subject and why criminalizing immigrants is not very effective. It just ends up costing us more money.
