A lockdown is only going to kill the economy. I agree with going with masks and just dealing with it until we get a vaccine on the market. We have more ways to treat it now. It’s just a waiting game until that vaccine becomes available sometime in 2021.

Governors and mayors need to be tougher. I go to way many bars and restaurants and see no masks. Way too many parties going on. I’m not saying to completely abandon our way of life, but implement rules with masks and make sure people social distance. Our country is like a poorly run football team. The players aren’t following the rules and the football coach is just sitting back and not doing anything about it.

150,000 new cases a day probably really means 500,000, or 3.5 million per week. At that rate, 10% of the country gets infected in the next couple months. Except that the rate is likely to increase. We're probably already close to 15%, so by the end of the year we'll be close to 25% having been infected. By the time we get a vaccine, herd immunity will be near, assuming that infection creates lasting immunity, which we still don't know.

I'll say 500k dead by the end of March.

With cases accelerating, how long? I guess I agree, 60% will be tough, but I think we'll see an actual 25-30% pretty quickly here. What is the estimate multiplier for actual cases vs. reported cases? Somewhere between 3 to 5 for every 1?

Herd immunity is at least 2.5 to 3 years at the earliest. Do you really think we can have another 2 years of this shit? We need a vaccine and need to stop the spread until a large number of people can get it. And that’s another whole ball of worms. A lot of people won’t get vaccinated which means we may never get to herd immunity.
