To answer the question you pose, that's not a question to be answered by you nor I alone, but by the American people as a whole. I simply quoted the Constitution of the United States, and that's the way it is as it currently stands. It isn't written in stone that it must remain that way forever. If you read Article V, you'll find that there are TWO ways to amend the Constitution...neither of which includes a clause of "because Buckandadime said so" (by Congress or by a Constitutional Convention of the States, which I know that there is at least one petition ongoing to do so with several states already signed on, [but not enough yet..must have 75% (38 states) to create a convention] in order to reel in the scope of the federal government's spending). Nonetheless, the American people have made changes to the original constitution 27 times so far. So to rephrase your question as a statement, if the nation as a whole deems it appropriate to make changes to what was written in the Constitution 231 years ago (not 245 as you stated...the Constitution was ratified in 1789), the founding fathers put TWO methods in place for that to happen. See...those dudes were a lot smarter than they get credit for in today's world.

Although I would agree with you that there are things that need to change in today's world, I can never agree with giving more power to the federal government. They've already far overstepped their constitutional bounds in my opinion. Each state should be allowed to make it's own laws, not be directed by the federal government. If one doesn't like their state's laws, they have 49 other states to go to. That's why we have chocolate and vanilla (I'm guessing that's a racist analogy in some way in today's world...but I digress).

But as far as the actual death penalty goes, I'm not 100% against it, but I'm not that trigger happy when it comes to pulling the handle either. If there is 100% certainty that a heinous crime has been committed, I'm for it. But there can be NO doubt. We've all seen the prisoners who were wrongly convicted and spent years behind bars only to be found innocent years later when science advanced and was able to prove them innocent. If they had been executed, there's no way to right that wrong. It's final. So although I'm somewhat in favor of the death penalty, I demand cast iron proof of guilt before carrying it out. (I think Old Testament law required two first-hand witnesses, and that seems reasonable to me...and before everyone jumps on me saying I think we should be living under Old Testament law...cease and desist...that's NOT what I'm stating. Just one example.)

I maybe the only guy on this site that knows 4 people that were executed. Know 3 more that deserve the death penalty. Notorious ones was glen rogers. His mother was buried with nicole simpsons broach. Mike benge who lived next dooer to us. Paid a death claim on one. Missed an appointment with another and he killed a sunoco clerk. The most infamous that should be killed is james ruppert.
