Six former Mississippi law enforcement officers who pleaded guilty to state and federal charges stemming from the torture and abuse last year of two Black men, one of whom was shot in the mouth, are set to be sentenced in federal court this week.

The six officers were charged with a combined 13 felonies in connection with “the torture and physical abuse” of the two men, according to the Justice Department.

Some of the officers called themselves “The Goon Squad” because of their willingness to “use excessive force” and not report it, according to a federal charging document.

Former Mississippi officer charged after allegedly forcing arrestee to lick urine off floor

A former Mississippi police officer pleaded guilty to a federal charge after allegedly forcing an arrestee to lick his own urine off a holding cell floor under threat of harm, according to a criminal complaint unsealed Wednesday.

While standing in the doorway of the holding cell, Green commanded the man to get on the ground and “suck it up,” according to the complaint, then “removed his phone from his duty vest and filmed” the man, who complied.

Pearl, located just outside Jackson, sits in Rankin County, Mississippi, which drew national attention in 2023 after five former deputies and one former Richland police officer pleaded guilty to multiple federal and state charges in connection with “the torture and physical abuse” of two Black men at a home in Braxton, the Justice Department said last year. The men are due in federal court next week for their sentencing.
Some of the deputies were part of “The Goon Squad,” a group of Rankin County Sheriff officers known for a willingness to use excessive force and not report it, as CNN previously reported.
The City of Pearl uncovered the incident involving Green over Christmas weekend, it said Thursday, and opened an internal investigation. Green was placed on administrative leave and resigned on December 27, Pearl Mayor Jake Windham said during a Thursday news conference.


Windham said Green had been with the Pearl Police Department for approximately six months and had “some personnel issues, but nothing like this.”

He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 12 and faces a maximum penalty of 12 months in prison, a news release from the US Attorney’s Office said.

Once the public viewed and shared the videos, the pigs could no longer rationally hide behind their lies. All charges were dropped against the teenage driver.

We've seen some dumb pigs, but this lieutenant and sheriff take the cake. Everything out of all of these pigs' mouths is either a blatant lie or they display their total ignorance of the law the US Constitution.

It's rather strange that this "medical condition" wasn't severe enough to seek medical attention or even go to a hospital, but was severe enough for him to knowingly break the law. This pig, Paul Garcia, was also previously investigated for child abuse and careless driving and has a "history of reckless behavior." Why do departments keeping hiring "bad apples" and keep them on the payroll? The public always pays the price.

After the chief's underage son was caught with over 30 other teens drinking at a party, the chief told his underling order followers to keep his son's name out of all of the reports. The pigs then doctored requested public records, but were only caught after a whistleblower at the PD sent the original, unaltered bodycam footage of the incident to a news station that has been covering this wild story of ongoing scandals and corruption at the department.

This sheriff was caught with an open container in his patrol vehicle. He lies and and says that the Miller Lite can is a "Monster." Then he says it's just a spit can. Finally, the pig changes his story again and states that he found the can and picked it up. After massive public backlash, the department deleted their facebook page which is destruction of public records. This corrupt pig no-shows for court after fabricating charges and falsifying the police report. The pig pulled a woman over for "speeding" while driving 41 mph in a 45 mph zone. The lying pig also made up felony fleeing and eluding charges as well.

The pig claimed the car was stolen, but never confirmed after a license plate reader "got a hit" on the vehicle. The actual stolen car has New Mexico plates and the pig's victim has plates from Florida. Taxpayers will once again be held liable for the costs of defending the pig's "mistake" as well as any judgements or settlements in the recently filed lawsuit.
