But this 19 yo probably could have had people think pretty easily think he was a student there.

Maybe have two points of entry and 2 standing detectors going at the same time.. 2 guards or more checking.. Just like when you go into a sporting event. 25,000 people poor into the Staples Center every event and we all go thru detectors and check points, why not schools?

Maybe you should read the whole article before reading the first line fits your agenda and running with it. The rule he repealed was that anyone receiving SSDI/SSI for mental conditions who had someone managing their money were automatically barred from purchasing a firearm. It was a rule even the ACLU (along with disability advocate groups) opposed as unconstitutional (and they are not not known for being champions of conservative/Republican ideals). All of those facts were stated further in the article. I don't see anything saying the shooter was a SSDI/SSI recipient so how would this rule have stopped the shooter?

Bingo, proper protocol would be hands on head or hands up where they can be seen at all times. If their phone is in their hand, either drop it or put your hands on your head with your phone on top. Not put your hands down to put your phone away where a shooter could act like he was putting hands in pocket and in reality is reaching for a gun. Before you go blaming the NRA. They aren't even in the top 200 of national organizations that donate money (https://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/list_stfed.php?order=A). What they're good at is grassroots organization and getting voters to the polls which scares the politicians because of the vote turnout.

Maybe the gun control groups should do a better job of getting out the counter vote rather than complaining about how effective the NRA is at getting out the vote. They're not losing because of money (and Bloomberg could certainly counter any financial power the NRA has).
