She's been involved in policy and activism for education for more than a decade....she's well versed. Teachers unions don't like her because she's for charters and vouchers. And yea I know plenty on the education front as far as what's been going on last few years. Got a first grader now and while we do send her to private school it's for a reason....wife is friends with a ton of teachers and school board members locally from public schools and I hear the debates and politics of it continuously. I was strongly against common core initially and while I don't exactly love the mandate the actual option has grown on me. Our kid's school does both common core and another curriculum so it gives it to the kids in a few ways so I've heard pros and cons from the actual teachers and parents.

Basically if you like the dinosaur public system and the corruption it has- yes some charters do as well but not on sane scale- and aren't interested in the new education out there then you hate the hire but if you see the benefits of STEM and project basic learning then you'll see the benefits to the students that Devos will bring.
