#37Kraken, we have been through many wars.
Sometimes on the same side, sometimes on the opposite.
You know it's easier to win a war when I'm on your side, right?? Let's get this done here. I'm totally on your side. I think you should check-in every day and update your sobriety.
Best of luck to you and yours.Comment -

#40I have my demons, but I have stayed away from opiates because I saw what they did to my dad.
He was a really good looking, successful real estate agent and then developer/builder/investor in the '80's...did coke, then crack when it came out, then heroin. My mom left him in '89 (I was 9).
It is a looong story but he would go to jail and/or rehab, come out, build a business, then get back on coke and heroin, and flush it down the tubes. He did this 3x over a 20yr period. He had a 7 figure net worth of his own, and inherited a bunch more money and property from my grandfather in '96 and now it is all gone and he is too old and unhealthy to ever get it back.
He has spent about seven years of his life in jail so far. He was out from '97 until '13, but he is prison now doing six years and everyone in his life but me has given up on him. We are talking about a guy that should be retired at 55, playing golf everyday. But instead he is waiting for that $100 I send him every month to hit his commissary account.
And oh yeah--he has peripheral artery disease and should have stints or new arteries put in his leg, but the prison is doing everything they can to make him wait until he gets out. His doctor in the prison told him he thinks he has 6 months before he will lose his leg and his best case scenario is a Jan 2019 release date.
Everyone's story is different, and I am not trying to say this is what will happen to you. Just trying to show the timeline and to highlight how much better off he would have been if he just stayed away.
I hope you stay away, kraken, for your daughter and for yourself.Comment -

#41"Stopping an addiction is not as simple as just stopping, its about having a reason to create a new life in which drugs or alcohol won't be a part of that life"

#51Knowing what I've gone through, I can only imagine the impact on a larger scale. I've said before the worst thing that ever happened to me was getting my second script of oxy. The first one was fine, it was needed, but after that, I just went back for rec purposes. Since that day, I've never had issues getting whatever I wanted. I knew what to say, how to manipulate the system, its just too easy.
The only answer I know today is that I have to persevere through this. I have to undue 10 years of addiction, and let my body and soul heal itself. Whatever I go through, however uncomfortable, is the price I gotta pay.Comment -

#53Meditate and connect with yourself. Slow down and don't try to impose your will on life. Understand that you have a purpose and ask yourself every morning what that purpose is. Every night reflect on the day and what you could have done better.Comment -

#65Good luck brother, pulling for you. Would recommend getting familiar with Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome as well as the effects opiates have on hormones and loss of endorphins.Comment -
