Guys I'm going to be buying a brand new two tone Rolex Submariner this weekend. I'm very excited this is the first rolex I'm buying from an authorized dealer. But one thing I still have not decided on is blue or black?

Actually, not to be a smart ass, but the price of one model of Rolex went some 150% during the eighties, without comparable change in the watch. A strong case has been made that in fact the watch was essentially overhyped to reach its high priced luxury status and has likely ridden that since. Still a good, innovative product.

Finest, mass produced watch is probably Seiko. But if you're looking for finest mechanical watch, get yourself IWC Schaffhausen Pilot's watch (Mark). Oldest Swiss watch company considered one of top 3 - IWC, Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin. Most fighter pilots and astronauts will agree with me on IWC mark watches.

Because sheep don't know any better. Some tricky marketing created that rolex bubble, not their quality. Same goes for silly Panerai watches with rolex movements inside. Let me know if you spot bugatti or Lamborghini or Ferrari billboards in your area.

Quality is still there, or it wouldn't still be popular, but the marketing created that initial hype.

If you are getting a Rolex I like my Daytona and Milgauss more than the sub. The black sub is a better looking watch than the blue one though. Never been a fan of two tone band though. Looks feminine to me.

I had a stainless IWC aqua timer. Gave it to my nephew. Dope watch.

Everyday watch is either my Milgauss or Panerai radomir.

I have been wearing a stainless steel black face sub for years. I used the function daily. Sometimes I think I want the black, other times I think I want the blue. A blue has just arived in my state from Switzerland. I need to pull the trigger soon and this is turning out to be a very tough decision. This watch will be my daily time piece for years.

My gpa gave me his old Rolex and supposedly its worth upwards of 20k today. Nonetheless it's pretty dated and ugly so I never wear it. I guess Rolex's never lose value

Rolex and gruen used to be the same watch under different name but gruen had the rights to north American market and rolex didn't. So they tricked there way to abercrombie & finch in Seattle and begun selling that junk watch in Seattle & Vancouver area under no name.
