No halfway intelligent person is denying that white people enslaved black people in the US...it's history, it happened and there's no great difficulty in admitting it. The disagreement over affirmative action and other racist policies isn't about denying history. Both the oppressors and the oppressed were our ancestors. You're not responsible for the actions of people you've never met simply because you share DNA.

Your examples of black people struggling today are simply looking at the problem incorrectly; poor black people have less opportunity mostly because they're poor. Is there some loss of "opportunity" because some other people are racist? Yup...but drop in the bucket compared to growing up poor. Once again, trying to combat problems caused by poverty by applying racially-biased aid just fosters the racism you imagine to be the problem.

Affirmative action is actually just racism (treating people differently based solely on the color of their skin), but calling it reverse racism helps distinguish it from the kind everyone is automatically opposed to, and hopefully gets people critically thinking about why it would be wise to try to combat racism by being racist

Anyway, as you already know I just don't get the US obsession with freedom of speech. If you talk like an asshole you should be treated like one. And to just stand by watching a small obsessed group find a new news story they can make an inflammatory race based generalization with every single day of the year is wrong too.

Thankfully someone usually does object in most threads but the same obsessed crew just overwhelm that as no one else without a personality disorder cares near as much as them about the issue.

How many black NFL coaches should there be? I mean 5 out of 32 is right about on par with the black population %. The number of black coaches in division I football is a bit low though.

Exactly. And lets be honest...everyone of every race and societal clique is discriminated against in the workforce so can't see why the rules should only apply to one group. It's called life....minimum wage jobs that just put a body with a task aside....any company with the three tiered evaluation process for candidates (resume submissions, initial interview and final interview/job offer) has its discriminatory leanings. People are hired to fit a work atmosphere and business process...not to be a broader societal experiment. Knowing people helps, previous work experience and productivity comes into play, appearance plays a major role as well but not as far as race but overall standards.

So yes, absolutely a black male or female encounters some form of discrimination but the same goes for whites or Asians etc. Also on the female side, HR won't just can a resume of a woman just because she's a woman but if she is up against a woman with no kids and no husband and she is divorced and raising 2 kids on her own or no kids buy just about to be married they will consider who will be more apt to be distracted, take off early, or ask for more vacation days etc in making that hire.

I haven't read the executive order in its entirety, but here is what I support. That everyone be treated equally, equal opportunity employment, simple as that. We agree that we don't believe neither blacks nor whites are superior to one another intellectually and that discrimination against blacks exists qualified blacks are discriminated against based on color.
Therefore something needed to be done, I'm not for quotas, but history has shown unequal hiring practices based on color so what do you do? If man did the right thing there would be no need for quotas and affirmative action.
