Mario Batali called it the best restaurant on the East Coast. He's right, it is. Their Tasting Menu is $155 a person.
Other restaurants I recommend are Osteria, Le Virtu, Tre Scalini, L'Angolo, La Famiglia, Monsu. Of those, Le Virtu, Tre Scalini, L'Angolo, and Monsu are in South Philly if you want to stay local and not bump into any of the "criminal element" you and your lady might bump into in Center City.

took your advice and headed to tre scalini....looked nice and all but once we realized it was byob we went two doors down to Noir and had dinner there. it was very good as was the cpt and cokes
always feels good to spend the $ I make in philly-IN Philly. awesome crab mac and cheese as was the Montreal steak. flyers come back to beat some ass, drinks in the Cadillac grille as the parking lot emptied and home with a smoke by midnight....damn good night. thanks for the tip. I tried. probably hit Monsu next time....is that byob too? I really don't do wine. would it be completely rude to bring a small bottle of cpt?
