I'm not sure either. 2nd degree murder?? I don't think so but I'm not well versed on the law. Not sure what is an appropriate punishment.

Martin is gone. Nothing will bring him back. Not sure Zimmerman should be rotting in some cell when he can be of use to society. It's sad for both families. Maybe he can write a book and give some of the proceeds to the Martin family. Win/win for both families. Other than that, I don't see it ending well for him. He's going to be labeled by this forever. He probably feels like shit which is why the huge weight gain. It's going to be hard to overcome the guilt. I really feel bad for all parties.

I really don't know what is the best outcome here.

the media covering this is playing to the racial differences in this case as opposed to concentrating on the "stand your ground" law and how this plays into this trial. it's pretty messy stuff and all i see is ppl claiming zimmerman is not white as if their race(s) make a fukking difference. i think zimmerman should go to jail. not sure on what charge though.

Zimmerman called police 7 times in the last year? That doesn't seem like a lot. 8 burglaries, 9 thefts and 1 shooting in an entire year isn't a lot either. That is pretty low if you ask me. My neighborhood probably has that many in a month or 2 and it's a very good area.

The head of the home owners association testified the other day that he did not see a need for a watch program in the neighborhood in the first place. He said these were petty crimes and not vicious, violent acts that needed the scrutiny. Zimmerman is out there booking people on jaywalking, having the garage door open, etc. Come on...

This area had problems. This is why Zimmerman was appointed head of the watch.

From January 1, 2011 through February 26, 2012, police were called to The Retreat at Twin Lakes 402 times. During the 18 months preceding the February 26 shooting, Zimmerman called the non-emergency police line seven times. On five of those calls, Zimmerman reported suspicious looking men in the area, but never offered the men's race without first being asked by the dispatcher.Crimes committed at The Retreat in the year prior to Martin's death included eight burglaries, nine thefts, and one shooting.Twin Lakes residents said there were dozens of reports of attempted break-ins, which had created an atmosphere of fear in their neighborhood

Well after listening to the full 911 call with 'the scream' in it. Common sense say it IS Zimmerman calling out for help. From the time the call starts....it's a full 30 seconds of 'help, ahhh, help, nooo, ahhh' and those noises until the shot is fired. So this means there had to be another amount of time going on while the caller was dialing and waiting. Couple this with the injuries and all other testimony regarding the struggle....that was Zimmerman being pounded and calling out for someone to help him. Why would it be Trayvon? Trayvon had no other injuries....so we know Zimmerman wasnt beating on him for that amount of time....all adding up to a self defense ruling boys.

How could our country possibly ever survive without all of these minorities committing such a high percentage of violent crime? As unfair as "separate but equal" really was, it was successful at keeping these people down as there was far less black on white crimes when blacks were mistreated. The U.S. as a nation has gone far too much the other way and yet Jesse Jackson, Al Shaprton still whine each day about racism in the U.S. Just think how much better the U.S. would be as a nation if the 1964 Civil Rights Act was NEVER passed.
