#52752No big write up here, no time for reasoning except to say that I had eyed Matsuyama to win this last tournament since the the PGA playoffs began. He probably can't win the playoffs though.
I was hoping for a single first place leader after round one to help with assessing the market, instead we got a tie for first after round one, keeping the winner, in my books, just as open as it was before yesterday's round.
I went ahead with Hideki Matsuyama -145 over Kevin Chappell for the second round only.
That line has since jumped everywhere, not surprising because we slammed the online limits.
This is probably going to pay...Good Luck.
I hope somebody got a piece of that UNDER in last night's NCAAF game, it was the right call.

google auctions off search queries to the highest bidder. you can pay google to display your company in the results when people search specific terms related to your company, ie. a jewelry company might bid on the phrase "gold bracelet"
facebook allows people to target specific audiences, ie. if you are trying to sell star wars shirts, you can only target an audience which has "star wars" under interests, etc. facebook allows advertisers to target potential buyers based on all these metrics, so you can only target an audience likely to buy your product. more effective advertising, larger percentage of ad turns into a sale.
amazon allows people to sell on their marketplace and they get a cut, don't know too much about amazon.
people wanting to advertise go to google, facebook, the biggest sites with lots of traffic. so a few select websites dominate the internet advertising market. alibaba is the big one overseas i guess.
lets talk about cloud. cloud is not a place just to store your photos. businesses are moving operations to the cloud. instead of running a server, data center, all this hardware, you simply upload your code to the cloud and let the cloud handle all the dirty work. the cloud can work for retailers, financial companies, any business that runs software.
alibaba is touted as an amazon, facebook, google rolled into one. they are collecting all this data on people which will help advertisers target specific audiences. they have a huge marketplace where they collect fees. they also have cloud services which is only 1% of their revenue or something.
my plan is to invest in the cloud, companies have to replace legacy systems and they are likely going to move operations to the cloud. im sure companies might be putting it off in the past, but eventually they will have to upgrade. i also want to invest in select internet advertisers. got a buddy whos place was hiring people for facebook advertising, this was back when it was around 80. maybe peek into the job boards to gain insight into where companies are advertising at/what they are investing in. maybe there are other cheaper places to advertise besides facebook/google that might see some growth. twitter? they can leverage all this user data to target audiences. not sure if my approach is way off, mostly talking out of my arse
long story short, invest in the cloud, invest in internet advertising. looking at oracle, late to the cloud game, still a big company with name recognitionComment -

Did it win?
Good post above Grapes. The internet advertising thing has been the name of the game for a while, and still is, but data collection and the cloud have a big future for sure.
You learning something at that new job of yours or what mayne?
Good stuff.Comment -
