do investors keep tabs on this cutting edge emerging technology? never heard of it, don't know too much about it. i studied computer architecture, sounds like hype to me. processors nowadays are simple, designed for parallel processing (8 core processors, etc). processors are pipelined, splitting the work between different stages like the Ford assembly line to increase throughput. Processors also run code, line by line, doubt there is any code that would run super efficiently on these qubit processors. maybe there are specific applications, code that could benefit from this. when they released 8 core processors, it didn't mean it was 8 times faster. programmers need to code in a way to take advantage of the hardware.

heres what some guy on the internet says about it:

"I don't have time to watch this video right now, but as someone in quantum computing research, my advice is to be very, very skeptical.The title quote is misleading. Without watching the video (I can't right now), here are some things I'm sure about:

"100 million times faster" is only true with at least one of the following two catches: either (1) the problem under consideration is a useless one that essentially boils down to "simulate D-Wave", or (2) the speedup is versus a crappy classical algorithm which is not optimal.
In the past, D-Wave results I've heard about involved both of the above catches.
The D-Wave machine's architecture is fundamentally incapable of universal quantum computation, which means that no matter how much they scale their machine, they will not be able to factor (unless there is a revolution in factoring algorithms).
Even if quantum computers are built, there are no known breakthroughs that would imply for AI (though there are some minor AI things you could do with them).
