#58i might be misguided but i still wouldn't feel comfortable buying a sharp product. i would always be afraid it would die, or that my friends would laugh at me (if i had friends). panasonic, philips, etc were making decent tvs for a while, but they was still that stigma attached to them.Originally posted by 19th Hole~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~``

#59Originally posted by Cuse0323Love my Samsung Plasma, but it does burn in a bit and you have to scroll it often so it doesn't stick. I'm not a fan of LED myself, everything just looks like a soap opera to me, it's too clear.
Just got an LED for my bedroom...What a piece of shit, Samsung.
Just like you said, that stupid fukkin "soap opera" term, horrible...Luckily there was a way to pass it by in the advanced picture setting.
So now it's bearable.
Still don't think there's much better than the Samsung/Panasonic Plasma...Unless of course you're spending 10 grand plus on a tv.
Like someone else said...Sams and Costco don't carry the exact models that you'll find at Bestbuy and stores like that...I'd just go into the store and see what TV looks the best to yourself, you'll go back and forth 700 times on what looks the best. Then go online and try to find it for cheaper...But by the time you get it in your room, you'll think you made the right choice and you'll forget about the other tv choices.
have fun.Comment -

#65if you can't spend $8K on the 70" Elite, your best two options are:
LED fully-backlit with local dimming:
Plasma:
the plasma is best for dark room settings (like a theatre room) which get minimal or no direct sunlight. plasma also handles motion (sports and video games) much better than LED/LCD's. they also deliver a more realistic, cinematic picture and typically, much darker black levels. on the downside, plasmas are heavier, can washout in bright settings, run hotter, and can experience image retention. however, if under the right room settings, plasmas offer the best bang-for-buck investment with the most realistic and best picture quality overall.
sony makes the only true fully-backlit LED with local dimming outside of the Elite. do NOT buy any Edge-Lit LED from any manufacturer, they're all garbage. the only real perceived advantage of LED over plasma is more screen 'pop' (bright colors, bright whites). however, many think that gives them an artificial look. cosmetically, they have a sexier design, are lighter weight, and run on less energy. then again, they're more expensive simply because of marketing. they don't handle motion nearly as well as plasmas and their black levels can really lack in general, however this sony model is very solid in both of those areas.
in sum: don't buy an edge-lit LED set, panasonic makes the best plasmas (samsung has a couple good models too), and sony makes the 2nd best fully-backlit LED set with local dimming next to the Elite.Comment -

#66just to clarify, insignia is made with the same parts as LG....if you buy an insignia with good specs (high refresh, high resolution) then it should be a good tv....LG is probably not what opie is looking for but it's a great value
as for this, sometimes it's okay to understand that you dont know what youre talking about and just not make a postOriginally posted by milwaukee mike
