i believe anyone who spends times hating gays, minorities, women, etc has a lot of anger and generally angry people cant be themselves. SO i assume that angry people like these guys are hiding something, generally they are closet gays who cant express themself. It would suck to live a life where you cant be who you are.

The cosmological significance of 2012 is that it is The Galactic Alignment. The Galactic Alignment is the alignment of the December solstice sun with the Galactic equator. This alignment occurs as a result of the precession of the equinoxes.
Precession is caused by the earth wobbling very slowly on its axis and shifts the position of the equinoxes and solstices one degree every 71.5 years. Because the sun is one-half of a degree wide, it will take the December solstice sun 36 years to precess through the Galactic equator (see diagram below).
This Galactic Alignment occurs only once every 26,000 years, and was what the ancient Maya were pointing to with the 2012 end-date of their Long Count calendar.
The Egyptians built the Great Pyramid aligned with the Galactic Center as it was 26,000 years ago. The Great Pyramid was somehow used to "connect" with the Galactic Center.
Something is going to happen that is visible from earth only once every 26,000 years. Some believe that there is some force at the Galactic Center that affects humans in some way that can only affect us on the Galactic Alignment.
The Egyptians, the Druids, the Maya and pretty much every other ancient civilization kept very accurate records of the procession so that they would know when the Galactic Alignment was due to arrive. Apparently they believed that there was some great significance to this event. The Maya certainly believed that.
Since the Egyptians built the Great Pyramid because of the Galactic Alignment I have to believe that there is something to this. Building the Great Pyramid was not a trivial task.Comment -

Okay, I was a little difficult with Curious on another thread and don't agree with much of what he says, but 1) he's a good capper, 2) he has an entertaining message board persona, and 3) he offers this nice post. Pretty much dead on accurate too, as far as the stated facts.
We reach the galactic plane every 26,000 years, plus or minus a couple millenia. The fascinating thing about it is that these ancient cultures like the Mayans, Egyptians and early Chinese, seem to have known this time frame. Remember, Galileo and Kepler ushered in the modern era of astronomy just a few hundred years ago, so how were these ancient people able to pinpoint this astronomical cycle so accurately without the use of telescopes and satellites? Well, as much as I love a good 'Armageddon is Here' tale when I here it, the cynic in me always searches for a more logical answer. You see, we only have a smidgen of the Mayan record --- Cortez destroyed most of the rest as he wiped them out --- and what remains has been translated and interpreted, and then translated again and re-interpreted by people who might be trying to sell a book, or gain a grant, or get on TV. The real Mayan scholars say that we simply don't know what the tablets predicted because we have so little info left, but that a loose interpretation of what we do have, paired with the knowledge that the Mayans were very in tune with near-space objects (Sun, Moon, Mars), could possibly point to a significant event on the 2012 winter solstice.
Still, a fascinating topic deserving of speculation given the recent decline in Solar flare activity and anomalous changes to the Earth's magnetic field as the date draws near.Comment -

No back up date. I should have never said "I predict" for the Bible seems to declare this.
Remember everyone who has ever stated this before was giving information OUTSIDE of Scripture. This is all coming from the Scripture. God is revealling truths in the BIBLE as we are near the end.
Just look at the churches today they all have become an entertainment center. Not one Church is being faithful to the Worrd.

No civilization had tools advance enough to built something with that much precision unless they had helped from a far superior being or race. You are wrong about the Egyptians and the Incas and the Atecs, etc not having advanced tools. We see evidence of advanced machining everywhere in artifacts from the ancient world.
The Greek Philosophers studied at the Egyptian temples. What did they study? energy waves (acoustics), sacred geometry (a kind of quantum mathematics), and meta-physics. Why acoustics? They were actually studying energy waves, but sound is a very easy way to experiment with energy waves.
There are bas reliefs which show Egyptian priests moving large stones up an incline with what appear to be plasma tubes. There are tables which describe moving large stones with sound.Comment -
One thing you could ask any know it all physicist or philosopher is: What is gravity at the exact center of the earth? Is it astronomically high or zilch? I personally cannot answer this because I really do not feel that anyone knows exactly what gravity truly is. Some may think they do, but consider this: Is gravity a force (created by a relatively large mass) that pulls you (a relatively small mass)? or is gravity some force pushing you down? This sounds odd, and may not be true of course, but you could test it theoretically. Let's say you were able to cancel this force with a shielding over your head; say a house of some sort. In theory, if gravity is a force pushing instead of pulling like most people assume; you should become weightless!

They tore down the house and renamed the streets so you would not even know it if you bought the house where it stood. The hotels where some of em died though are still up and running.
