I was re-reading the early stuff from this thread.

I think I'm a better player now than I was then. I learned almost everything from playing SBR poker and reading the threads. I never watched a poker video until Tuesday (worthless stuff on pokerstars. Extremely basic stuff like telling you what blinds are and what the hand rankings are) and I've still never read a poker book.

So thank you, although some of you could've been a little less obnoxious in going after the newbie.

I started playing in February 2011 because of the SBR freerolls. I'd always avoided poker until then but SBR made it enticing.

that was bad enough but then it looked like I had top 3 sewn up. Dealt K6, flop KJ8, I all in. BigDaddy calls with 89 off and hits a 9 on the river.

I'm sure one of his twelve minions caught it on tape and forwarded it to him; he's probably contemplating what type of punishment to dispense... be it a public beatdown via forum post or perhaps something more sinister "behind the scenes".

I just assumed he was in the last position because he was the sole survivor of the last satellite. Apparently I was wrong.

I'm pretty sure I made the right call. Obviously you normally would split the 8s, but given the situation, my odds of winning were higher by not splitting.

By splitting I'd put myself in a bad situation because I'd be risking more than he was risking, so if I lost both and he lost, I'd lose, or if I won one and lost won and he won one, I'd also lose.

The way I did it, the only way I could lose was if dealer hit 17 exactly, and the odds of dealer hitting 17 off a 2 are very long.

But I was getting screwed a lot. $1000 tournament, and I hit and got an 8, giving me 20 on the last hand. f-ing dealer turned a 7 into 21.

first cash of the new series. 8th tonight. Only notable hand was what allowed me to finish 8th rather than 10th. I was short stacked so I allined with A8 and it beat beerdog's KK with an A on the flop.

Still didn't have so many after that so wound up with QK running into tubbywarrior's all in shove of AK. Man he got dealt a lot of top hands. He has a big chip lead now.

8th is a good result for me. Glad to not be shut out the first week.

yeah i played retarded at the end. i got conservative trying to fold into a cash when it got to 25 but towards the end i wanted to call something before i'd get ante'd out but i just kept getting shit hand i couldn't call.
