Honestly as a Brewers fans, I don't fear the Pirates at all. IMO they are over preforming, and soon their pitching will come back down to earth, esp. in the dog days of august and september. I could be wrong, but we will see.
This is the first real division race the bucs have ever been in, and games in august and september, are just a hell of a lot different then games in april in may. As a brewers fan, i can contest to that.
The bucs though are playing well right now and you do have a good future ahead of you, there will probably be up and downs, next year as teams adjust to your pitching and hitters given you are a young team.
GL the rest of the year, but I see you finishing fourth behind the brewers, reds, and cards.
I do think next year or the year after you could really contend in the NL, esp. if you get some bull pen mofos and just a few more hitters.

Just a heads up since you don't follow the Bucs but pretty much every one of their pitchers have been on low pitch counts, usually around mid 80s, so I don't think their pitching will die down on them like most clubs, I actually expect it to be one of the best come late in the season because of Hurdle's move here with pitchers. I would be more worried about the Brewers' pitching staff, you guys are going to have to win slugfest on a day to day basis just to stay in the race. Good luck.

Forgot to mention, Bucs have 8th best record in all of the majors, 8 of 30 and climbing

Not worried about our pitching staff at all, our pitching staff has under preformed to the max, Greinke with missing all of spring training is just now getting into his stuff, Gallardo has been up and down.
Like I said before, playing games in april, june, and july, is nothing like playing games in late august and september. Your pitching staff has over preformed like it or not, combined with the easiest SOS in the first half and you are where you are.
I never said your pitching staff is doing to die from dead, arm, but I guarantee they will start to try to do too much and it will all blow up. Basically everyone on your starting pitching staff has never contended.

But enjoy being in First place in July. I guess. ....

I would be willing to bet 50 points Jeff Karstens will have an era around 3.85is give or take a few points in the second half. Lets just say his season era will be above 3.00. He is one of the reasons why they are raring, and its very unlikely his dominance will continue.

When Doumit and Alvarez and Tababta get back and they trade for Beltran the Pirates will be real hard.

18-32 on the road, how are the Crew going to even have a shot to contend if these numbers keep up... good clubs win on the road as well as at home.

Alright I had my fun going back and forth with you defending my Buccos and granted as a lifelong fan and 19 years of misery, I deserve to throw in a few shots here and there... but still a lot of season to play and may the best team win the division. Good luck.

The Pirates are playing on adrenaline right now......... they could come back to earth, but I am enjoying the ride right now, and the whole key is beating the BREWERS. We have been humiliated by them recently, and it is time to step up.

7:12am: The Pirates appear to have landed righty reliever Jason Grilli, based on the pitcher's tweet: "Black & Yellow! Black & Yellow! Black & Yellow! Cannot wait to join the new squadron." Grilli, 34, has a 1.93 ERA, 11.8 K/9, 3.3 BB/9, and 0.6 HR/9 in 32 2/3 innings for the Phillies' Triple-A affiliate this year. Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reported yesterday that the Phillies were on the clock, as Grilli had an out clause that allowed him to take a Major League offer from another team if the Phils didn't promote him within three days of that offer. Grilli adds depth for the Pirates, who Rosenthal believes are also seeking "an established eighth-inning reliever."

Tonight starts what may be the most important series for the Buccos in recent memory!

PNC Park will be rockin' all weekend!

Many people think that this season has been a fluke so far and that the Pirates are "overachieving"

Quite honestly, I'd rather my team be "overachieving" than "underachieving" (see Milwaukee Brewers)

I know this squad is for real! LET'S GO BUCS!

the pirates are not "overperforming", just wait unitl they start hitting. then the pirates can give a little back and still win. damn bats are killing us.

and we are not getting beltran, dont get ur hopes up.

overbay better hit this week or hes done. pearce and tabata coming back. pearce and jones can plataoon at 1st.

if we can pick up a right handed, power threat, we will be ok.

being a fan doesnt have to make you ignorant being a stl fan with a brain probably guarantees you know baseball about as well as anyone

Personally im happy for the buccos (even tho most fans are prob also steelers fans who make me sick), not many deserve winning baseball as much as Pit.

Im not crowning pit or anyone else div winners at this point, still feel like trade deadline decides nl central, not necessarily "big" names even but whoever makes the move/moves that work best for team is capable of winning it. Just think it is foolish for anyone to be dismissing Buccos at this point, especially some freakin brewer fan that cant even see the flaws in his own team...

I guess. ....

Cant wait for this game, should be a awesome atmosphere for Carp vs Buccos. personally think stl can pull gm1 provided they dont commit to many errors (which is not close to a certainty) really curious what cards lineup gonna look like...should be a good game and series. If game 3 is the rubber match not even sure who will start for Cards, Loshe back in da lou having his finger checked out and if he doesnt make it gonna be a lot of stl pen on Sunday
