Even as a lifetime stl fan ive been quietly rooting for Buccos to get it going in the right direction for years. Guess i like a lot of Buccos fans and hate seeing them suffer for so long (like watching cubs fans suffer). That said, enough is enough. i just want you guys to compete, not win the fukkin div!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't think I've ever seen that many people at PNC. Since the Cubs seem to be trying there best to match Houston for cellar rights and the worst record in baseball this year, I'd definitely take the Buccos winning the division over the Cards, Brewers or Reds.

The crowd was the Pirates' ninth sellout of the season, a mark it hadn't reached since 2008. The Bucs are 10-3 at home when 30,000 or more fans are in the ballpark.

Have fun while it last Pit fans. I can't see you guys continuing this run, you have a good team but its not your year to win the central. You guys have way over preformed, esp. your pitching. Do you really expect your pitching to be this great in the second half, you better hope so unless you guys are going to fall fast, and quick.
Combine that with the easist SOS in the MLB, and you have your pit pirates.
Also you have to realize, the two favorites to win the division the reds and milwaukee have under preformed.
The brewers offesne, has not been what it was last year, Casey Mcghee for one, Hart, Brauns been hurt.
Then you have to look at the Brewers pitching which was supposed to be the key for them, has been okay not even good. Greinke has been up and down, defintly not the ace expected. Gallardo hasn't been that great this year, Macrum was great, but the last 5 starts have sucked. Randy Wolf is avearge self.

GL, I know its great to see your team doing good for the first time in years. I remember when the Brewers first started to play good, but its easy to play good in April, May June. You really know how good your team is, when they start playing games in August and Septembers. That usually separates the pretenders from the contenders.
That being said, I see Pit, being under .500 this year.
But they will continue to grow, and may be a true contender in the next couple of years.

For the last 4 weeks I have been playing the Pirates (every game).

                                      1. Wait for the opener to get pounded by the "sharps"
                                      2. Place bet 20 minutes before game and get the best number
                                      3. Win
                                      4. Repeat

It's been 19 years since we have had any type of success. Yes, we understand who is over and under performing. We get it. We're still going to enjoy the run. It seems like people always feel like they need to explain baseball to Pirates fans. just because our team has been bad for a long time, doesnt mean we dont understand the game and who is who in the MLB.

Paragraph one - that is what keeps Vegas and the sports wagering world spinning. Teams that are not "supposed" to be winning, winning. I believe the term is "underdog". I am not sure as I am "non-pro" and therefore bet only ???? you got it, favorites!!

Last `graph really gets me though. Under 500!

this is a young team, we're only going to get better as the years go on. well as long as they can afford to keep them there that is. if they could keep players like bay, bautista, mcclouth, morgan, ramirez, etc..they'd have a good team. they just trade them away though

It's amazing that the Pirates have done this well.. McCutchen definitely should be on the All-Star team, he's a very good player.. I think this team is quickly improving, but I just don't think they'll keep this run going in the second half of the year. I could be wrong, but I see this team hitting the skids at some point in the second half.

They got rid of Bautista because he was terrible. They traded Morgan and Mcclouth to get Hanrahan and Charlie Morton, among others. All good moves for the Pirates.

this is young and hustling team - I believe the second half of the season will be very interesting, perhaps their youth will give the BUCS an advantage. gl
