Unfortunately Bodog's most recent vendor choice for checks by mail proved to be a poor one as the latest withdrawal check bounced; Bodog did send me an EMAIL before I even got the notice from the bank and (to their credit) offered me a 10% bonus on the redeposit back into my account;
I waited about a week during which my balance also rose nicely and decided to try another withdrawal method -- good ol Western Union
I had not even been in a Western Union office and when I arrived at the only one reasonably close to me (about 10 miles), my blood pressure rose even as I entered the parking lot. It was one of those lovely little "Payday Cash Loan" offices that are famous for their 162% APR one-week loans.
When I went inside there was a line at the window. I remember thinking the folks waiting there looked like what I pictured you'd find in typical lines at the local unemployment office, although a couple of them had suspicious bulges under their shirts just above their pant lines. This obviously added to the intimidation factor for me.
When I got to the front of the line I was asked for my drivers license as the Bodog EMAIL had said I would be. I gave that and the control number to the clerk with the scraggly hair and she went over to her computer and began entering the data. The next thing she said OUT LOUD was "social security number?". I motioned to her to come back to the window and asked why she needed that. Oh, "the system" requires it on all amounts over $2,000. Now I would think one of the last places you would want to have the combination of your drivers license number and your social security number would be the folks who work at the local payday loan office. Talk about a prime opportunity for identy theft! I hesitated for a couple of minutes, contemplating the mess I would create if I went back to Bodog to try to get this whole thing reversed, and finally wrote down my SS # on a piece of paper and handed it to the clerk with the scraggly hair (rather than verbally telling clerk and the 4 people behind me in line -- two of which looked like they were packing heat).
She went and did her thing and then disappeared into an office in the back for a moment. She came back out with 3 separate checks for $1,000 each and a bundle of $100 bills. She shoved the checks through the window and asked me to sign them and she would give me the money. I immediately think to myself, what are the chances I'll make it from the front door of the office to my car with the $3,000 without being mugged? I declined the cash and asked, in a voice loud enough for everyone to hear, for a pen so that I might write on the checks "For Deposit Only, XYZ bank". I then made sure I did that before I walked out the front door and broke into a full gallop to my car.
I think I'll take my chances via mail in the future.

Very funny story.
We can all relate to the "old days" of meeting our book in a bar to collect. It reminded me of my Rhode Island days. I had to go to an "Italian Social Club" to collect what at the time was the best week of my life. 40k. It was in 1993 or so. I think it was called the "ace of hearts". I got my money after a 40 minute wait and 40 minute "where do you get your info from" conversation. I do not remember the year but sometime after that Ray Patriacha's (sp) limo driver felt he was dissed in the club and came back guns a blazin. If my memory serves me at least 2 were killed on the spot.

Here is a relevant and interesting post from SBRforums:
"I'm an employee of Bodog, our customer service is located in Vancouver, Canada, TripleCrown is the name of the company that does the customer service and process payments via Western Union, you know, Quezon City, using a company named xxxxxxxxx...I had enough of Bodog, customers are not getting pay, we have thousands of client that have not gotten pay in over two months and we have hundreds of clients that are getting checks but they go NSF, ...be smarrt, don't play at Bodog...if you used your bank account to make deposits, your deposits will be pending forever, which means you cannot get a payout while you have pending deposits - why is that, because Bodog is not getting pay by these processors which are collecting the money, which is your money...if you are not getting pay then contact the company behind Bodog in Vancouver, here is their website www.triplecrowncs.com at 604-639-3423 - don't believe me, check out their website...for those lucky clients lucky enough to get pay, your check by mail takes about 8 weeks and keep in mind, that xxxxxxx, xxxxxxxxx, etc, may give you a check that will go NSF...we have clients that have had their banks accounts closed and accused of fraud by their banks because they deposited their checks from Bodog only to find out later that they go NSF, people are getting in trouble with their banks because of Bodog.
Furthermore, Western Union is fine, but keep in mind that the company they use to process those payments is xxxxxxxxx, the people running xxxxxxxxx were arrested last week in Utah, so if you feel safe using Western Union knowing that the police are on to them, then go ahead, don't forget that you are using your real name to pick up those funds. I don't use Bodog but the above is a common theme I see from therx to EOG and MW...Bodog
is at the forefront of attempting to stiff players..look at this underlying thread ,the guy had a
check bounce and was forced against his better instincts to use **.
Bill is a good guy however SBR has Bodog as a A rated book and I'm not sure it's wise on their part
to say anything contrary to any pecuniary advertising interest they may have with Bodog....

bodog is fine if you are only using western union. Do not use there new instant check deposit method! If you do, you will never be able to withdraw money ever again. I haven't heard anyone having any trouble with cashing checks at their banks. So the guy is right about the new deposit method, but everything else is unconfirmed from what I know about dealing with them, and I have many friends that deal with them as well. **** bodog anyway because their lines suck. Especially their baseball lines.

I didn't state it was bs, Bill Dozer did. I felt you were bringing only one side of the story (and likely the untrue side, as I and most others would take Bill Dozier's word over a new, anonymous internet poster. I'm quite sure that if Bill Dozier knew that Bodog was stiffing players (as you claim), he would tell us, and at the very least wouldn't say that they in fact weren't. And I believe he'd be very likely to know.

Things are very different here in the States right now. Very shady. But there is no reason to think that you will get into trouble for dealing with bodog, you just might not get paid if you are in the U.S. I do not think bodog will last too much longer. But as of NOW, they are paying, as long as you don't have a pending deposit through the instant check method. Which according to bodog there is no timetable for when those pending deposits will clear. *** DING DING DING *** no timeline = shady business. I mean they aren't even lying to customers anymore.

I've been with Bodog at least 8-10 years, primarily because they are one of the few books who have consistently offered lots of NBA propositions. I don't know much about deposits there and which methods to use but I have taken regular withdrawals, including 5 this year. I used the ECH method up until this year but have been using checks by mail until this latest adventure with Western Union.
It is certainly worrisome to wait for a check for 3-6 weeks and that has been my experience this year (so far). It is even worse when a check that does arrive bounces. But so far the withdrawals have ultimately arrived and I did pick up my Western Union withdrawal the 5th day from the day I made the request. I don't know what the future holds and I would certainly recommend you keep your balances as low as is practical based on your average bet. That's the best rule anywhere in my opinion.
The one I feel most comfortable with is The Greek. Somehow I think my money is safe there but, even that faith could be tested in future months. Who really knows?

#41Brunhuber at OGDI cannot for the life of me understand why Calvin Ayre's sneering visage continues to grace the top of the page over at Major Wager. The Major, whom I actually admire, has stated to me that, "he doesn't get one dime from Bodog", and also claims that his site is basically non-profit. Having Ayre's pic at the top of his page is akin to having a picture of an ice-berg at the front of the church service for Titanic victims. The BetUs indictment lists four "unnamed" sportsbooks as having the same processors. Do ya think one of them might be Bodog? Do ya think Anna Nicole seen a lot of cocks?. Do ya think the DOJ might be just a little bit curious as to why Ayre has such close connections to Russia. BodogFight and all. Ayre knew Pavel Bure while Bure played hockey for the Canucks. Interesting tie-in here.http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontl...y/etc/who.html There is a good reason the DOJ is taking their time before pouncing on Ayre and his band of merry men. The CyberRoad "pump and dump" scheme, as mentioned earlier by Big Mo, was based out of Florida. You know Florida. The home away from home for the Russian mob. Ex-employees of "the Big Book" have suggested Ayre was a lap-dog for the big boys from Eastern Europe. http://www.utilitygrade.net/article/calvin-ayre. I read somewhere that the fading star BiffNaked dated Bure. I see until recently Biff was the ** for the BodogFight series. Call me paranoid, but there seems to be a pattern here. There is more, but some sources don't want their names mentioned. Anyhow, we'll know soon enough. And then the 2nd most famous pig-farmer to come out of BC will no doubt be in the same protective custody wing as the most famous pig-farmer in the world. A serial killer who selected his victims from the "low-track" on Vancouver's East-Side. And butchered them into little pieces. Sixty or more. A couple of ex-pig farmers who have a thing for skanky women. Google Willie Pickton. This is true. Ol Cal, and Willie, up in Cell Block D. Swapping stories. It will once again be proven that shit does indeed find it's own level. It's ****ing amazing. Ya gotta love it!Comment -

#42BrunhiberApparently Cal is having a book ghost-written about himself. I hope he doesn't have the part in there about his "fruit-hauling" days', because that has been exposed as a lie. Globe and Mail, Macleans, Vancouver Sun, Nightline, Forbes, etc, etc. have all wrote about who Ayre was before Bodog. Basically a drug-runner and stock swindler I can just see the smirk on his face when he first gave the interview about the "fruit-hauling, before certain aggrieved parties decided to fight back, "any way they could". As for me, I saw an oppurtunity to give Ayre and his sister some pay-back, and I took it. As for Calvin's pathological "sense of entitlement", I'm sure he's trying to deal with that now. I must say, he looks very puffy. It's a shame what stress can do to a person. They eat to much, they drink too much. They have weasely, cowardly minions reply for them against any attacks upon themselves in these gambling forums. They stop giving interviews. They stop coming to their home country. They stop visiting the States. Boy, Mike, I'll bet that kills him. One day you are on top of the world, the next you are too afraid of twenty years in the "Big House" in fortress America to go there. It's a shame that Calvin suffers from his super-narccissm, really. He thought he could do whatever he wanted to anyone, no matter the cost to people's lives. Well, that is a painful lesson that Calvin Ayre is learning. It didn't have to be this way. As for his planned book, fugedaboutit. And remember, Mike, Calvin won't be there much longer to pay you to shill for him. Nothing personal, Mike, but it's over!Comment -

#43OK, let's try and get somewhere in this thread....can anyone OUTSIDE the US provide recent evidence of a quick Neteller payout (as some poster did within the last couple weeks)? If they are paying the rest of the world the same day (as they used to do with Americans), then I think most would feel safe that they will get paid somehow, someway despite the processor bullshit.
Thanks in advance to the non-Yank who can do so.Comment -

#44A quick question. For anyone that got a check that bounced, did you get another check and did it include the fees it cost you for the bounce? I'm wondering if the books take responsibility for the bounced check fees or is it you are just happy the 2nd check went through?
I contacted Greek first. They said I’d need to handle it through the processor, but that if that didn’t work, they would step in. So they wanted me to go to them only as a fallback. They told me to Fed Ex the bounced checks to the processor as I got them back from my bank. I asked them if I could expect any compensation for any expenses incurred in this process, as well as the intangibles of all the hassle and ruining my relationship with my bank and such. They said that once it was all over they would reimburse me in a lump sum for the Fed Ex charges for returning the four checks to the processor, but it was unlikely they would give me anything beyond that. Their attitude was that in these times we all—books, processors, customers, etc.—have to expect some delays, some expenses, some hassle beyond what used to be the norm, and not expect to be compensated for it.
My bank took it’s time returning the bounced checks to me, claiming they had to wait until the payer’s bank returned them to them. One trickled in once every week or two. In the meantime, my account was completely and utterly screwed up, as they sometimes took the money out immediately when the check came back to them, sometimes waited a few days, sometimes took it out twice, etc. At one point they froze my account entirely, resulting in my own checks bouncing, costing me some fees from the parties I’d written those checks to. I spent a dozen hours or more dealing with them in person and by phone, and they were utterly clueless and rarely helpful.
As instructed, I sent the checks back to the processor by Fed Ex as I got them. I had no e-mail for the processor, and the phone number just goes to some answering service, and then they don’t call back. One of the four they sent me a replacement check. The other three times, after a week or so I contacted Greek to let them know I hadn’t received a replacement and to ask them to prod the processor from their end. Evidently they did, as I eventually received the other three replacement checks.
I deposited all the replacements, and as of yet I’ve heard no bad news on them from the bank, so I’m assuming they’re good.
I sent Greek documentation of the expenses I incurred (the Fed Ex charges they said they’d reimburse, and the other fees and such they said they probably wouldn’t). They wrote back that the person who would handle that is gone all week, and would look into it next week.
Meanwhile, I sent the bounced Bodog check back to the processor in one of the Fed Ex envelopes that had a Greek check. I then called Bodog to let them know, since apparently the processor needs a prod from the book to replace the bad checks.
Bodog responded very differently from how the Greek had. They were very apologetic, they said the customer should never be asked to work it out with the processor, that this is 100% the book’s responsibility, and that they’d make good on it immediately. They said I needn’t have sent the check back to the processor, that I should have just called Bodog first and they’d handle it all. They asked me if I wanted my replacement payment as a check or a Western Union, for no charge of course. I asked which had a lesser backlog, and they said Western Union, so I opted for that. They processed it immediately and I picked up my money the next morning.
When I brought up compensation to Bodog, they said absolutely they’d pay any costs I’d had to incur. I didn’t ask them for the Fed Ex charge, since I’d put it in the same envelope as a Greek check and Greek had already said they’d eventually reimburse me for that. Bodog did, however, put $25 in my account for bank fees I’d incurred. They also agreed that the general aggravation and delay deserved something, and said that though they’d discontinued the automatic reload bonuses and my account was not currently eligible for a bonus, they’d put a note in my account saying I get 10% cash on my next deposit anyway.Comment -

#45Warning From Bodog Employee
you want proof? call Bodog at 1-888-263-000 ext 2 and ask to talk to Marco, or one of the other customer service managers, Evan, Troy, Kevin (who is in Costa Rica right now) Carlos, Harman, Ryan, or the new guy, Lance (I could have the name wrong cause he just transfered from the Costa Rica office) the whole point of this is for those of you out there who are thinking about joining Bodog, think hard, and if you have money with Bodog, then get it out, right now Western Union is taking 7 to 10 business days, check by mail 3 to 4 weeks, and check by courier 2 to 3 weeks, keep in mind, those are "estimates" so it does take much longer for clients to get their money - for those of you that think that they are really smart, keep using Western Unions for your payouts, but remember, xxxxx is going down and your name is in their database...here is another truth, Calvin was at the Burnaby office about a month ago, giving a nice speech about how things are so perfect in the Bodog world, tell that to those poor clients that have to wait 8 weeks for their checks only to have them go NSF and then getting another check that of course goes also NSF...I never said all their checks are bad or no client is getting their money, but thousands are not....Comment -

#46Any book, including Bodog, could close up shop tomorrow and never pay another penny. Especially during these times, you need to be very, very careful with any money you keep in offshore books.
That is a general caution however, and has nothing to do with this clown talking to himself through his various ghosts. One of the drawbacks to these public forums—so much so that I wonder if on balance they do more good or more harm, especially to new readers—is that they are infested with folks with the morals of a Nigerian e-mail scammer who simply see them as a convenient means of deceitfully pursuing their agendas by shilling for or trashing whomever they choose.
So I would suggest: 1) Keep your balances low and don’t be complacent about any book, including Bodog, and 2) Ignore this idiot.Comment -

Let me tell you a little about business practice for SBR. Having any A-rated book go down would not be good business practice for SBR - that would be the worst type of business practice. Other forums can do that because when one of their sponsors goes bump, they claim they're not a watchdog and then go around deleting any forum posts that make the site look liable.
Oh, and as far as I'm aware, Bodog aren't a sponsor of SBR. I don't see their logo at the top of the site among the six sponsors. #51Dude WTF are you talking about? Anyone who is not paid is a pending payout, nobody has been stiffed nor will they and all of this is just ridiculous nonsense. This ****tard is not a Bodog employee and everyone piling on his story is just as big a loser as he is.
It is very apparent to me that maybe 2 of the posters in this thread have any clue about what is going on in the industry right now.
Trying to compare Bodog to The Greek or Bet Jam is just an utter joke. Spiro does about 1/16th the volume that Bodog does in a week. It's like comparing apples to watermelons.
This is all just retarded speculation. Not one person in here knows what is really going on and not one person in here has a accurate information regarding any payouts at any Sportsbook. All I hear in this thread is a bunch of shit falling out of people's mouths.
Like I said, I am happy to go toe to toe with anyone who can provide me proof of any of the claims mentioned in this thread. The people who have had problems cashing out are the exception, not the rule and the problems were caused by the processor, not Bodog.
And for the people who want to question my integrity, I have been a site owner and respected poster on many boards for over 5 years. Check my user name at Major Wager if you want some background on me.

#53It's funny because ignorant people think stuff they cant comprehend is funny because they don't know how to process it.
Let me enlighten you.
In the current climate (post UIGEA) the high volume processors are doing only 2000 transactions per day. Bodog uses several of these processors. Once they hit the 2000 limit, processing stops.
We are talking payment processing here, not handle. Bodog processes 5-10,000 payment requests per day. BetJam and Oly combined would be pressed to see 2000 in one day.
You really have no clue what you are talking about. You are trying to speak for someone when you have the bare minimum amount of knowledge it takes to participate in this discussion.
Trying to compare a small volume book like BetJam and Oly to a giant like Bodog just shows your ignorance.
Ask anyone who isn't a forum rat and really has their finger on the pulse of the industry and they can confirm what I am telling you.

#56I did say I thought BoDog would pull out of USA mkt but did not happen yet, almost every book is having trouble paying out with tough banking laws. I do think BoDog is safe though. I never heard anyone getting stiffed there.Comment -

#57I read this from another site that Bodog is sending out emails to their clients that received their checks not to cash them... This is after weeks of delay for the checks to reach them and for those that deposited those checks bounced.
I don't know if SBR members are smart enough not to use Bodog or what but I wouldn't deposit into Bodog with JJ's money... No "A" book should act like this.Comment -

For those that keep saying that I don't work for Bodog at TripleCrown, I will be posting emails sent to all us regarding payout delays and the exact number of clients that are getting NSF checks, you want proof, then you should have it...Comment -

#61Warning From Bodog Employee
Have you ever had a job? when you work at a company, sentitive information is given to all employees all the time, and BD management is very aware of this thread, but what can they do, fire us all, considering that we have about 200 employees at TripleCrown, Big Brother is surely watchingComment -

#63"Sweat the payouts and the game" should be Bodog's new
slogan....this "soyouhateme" guy is point on re Bodog, that is
all I'll say after being with them since 1999....
PS. That pompous idiot Ayre is responsible for the new anti
online legislation when he went on Nightline and flaunted all
the millions he was making from US players without paying taxes....
Do you think a few Congressmen and Senators watched that piece?Comment -

#64There is not a doubt in my mind that soyouhateme does in fact work for for Bodog - or rather their call centre affiliate, Triple Crown CS.
That being said, he is not posting his information to help customers out. He definetly has a seperate agenda. But its interesting to be a spectator none the lessComment -

On that point I will agree, dumb and dumber move.
BD has the same problem every other book with large volume has right now. They have plenty of money and no way to expediently get it back to clients. Processing...anyone not working in the industry beyond the level of a call-taker has no idea the hurdles that have to be negotiated now to take money in and get it back out. No idea.
You can thank your elected government as well as Mr. Ayres bravado for that.Comment -

#66Originally posted by biffsnakedI read on one of the other forums that JJ Gold confessed to sucking another man's cock because he needed the money. My first thought, upon reading that thread, was that the boys were just ****in' around. Around the same time, some Mafia connected sportsbook, no, not Bodog, was taken down. Ol Hank, I guess he was feeling ornery cuz he wasn't getting a piece of the Bodog "hush money", posted on MW or EOG that "Ayre was next". Those were his words. Now we have him telling anyone who will listen that, "Bodog is solid, everyone will be paid". Talk about a degenerate gambler. This guy will apparently bend over for anyone, as long there's a dollar in it for him. I'm starting to thing to think he did blow some guy for money. I saw your, "Forum Wars" video, JJ. You are one sad ass, barely literate cock-sucker. ****, it just occured to me that JJ and Mike Cash might be the same guy.

#67Soyouhateme, just a quick bit of info for you. I wouldnt be surprised if BoDog allready know who you are and just waiting for an excuse to fire you. Your IP is in the SBR database so your IP will pinpoint the origin of where the post are made. If Bodog had thier hands on that thier server techs can find which PC it was posted on in the IP's domain.
I used to work as a Tech for a small business company 2 years ago and trust me we can see all the sites people visit and which computer they were at because of thier IP.
And why all the book bashing, if people are getting paid that is all us players need to know. as a bodog customer myself I never had issues with them, then again I havent asked for a payout since january so I didnt personally run into issues yet.Comment -

The single most pressing issue facing the industry today; processing....and BoDog Management is openly circulating amongst hourly paid employees, who answer phones, crucial information that could have a huge negative impact on their business?

#70I respect your honesty re Bodog but you are a little naive if you
think Western Union will be around for the long haul...and not be-
cause of the government (they want to track the money trail) but
because a lot of the payout recipients have already been blacklisted
by **..VIP and others have already phased out ** payouts...Last edited by The Heim; 05-27-07, 02:50 PM.Comment
