You guys need to slow your roll. We still need to see what happens with the upcoming trading deadline. As usual everyone looking for pitching so let’s see which teams are sellers and which teams are buyers. -
Not only that, but the Pirates have sticks too. Cruz and Reynolds are raking and smashing, and somebody forgot to tell McCluth he's 100 years old and has come up big in spots this season. I don't have a dog in the NL Central fight, but I'm rooting for Andrew McCutchen and the Pirates myself.
If the Cubbies weren't so crappy I'd pick them fourth and Cards last in that division.
Lance Lynn is washed up, Kyle Gibson is a hamburger, the Greek isn't all that, and if it wasn't for Sonny Gray pitching out of his shoes the first three months, the Red Birds would be finished by now.
Personally, I think the Brewers will come back to the pack some, Reds and Pirates will be in the hunt come Labor Day.
Since this is primarily an American League thread...
How about those KC Royals and Bobby Witt Jr.?
Royals are about to polish off Arizona 10-4.
That'll make them 4-0 since the season resumed, 8-2 in their last ten...
Boy wonder Cole Ragans will pick up his seventh victory, but the big story there is Bobby Witt Jr. went 3 for 4 (with a walk) doubled, tripled, then smashed a moon shot, fell a single short of the cycle, 3-4, 3B, 2B, HR, 3 Runs, and 3 RBI. And he's been doing this all season.
18 HRs on the season, tied with Kwan in batting average, leads the league in triples, third in the league in OPS, and oh by the way has 22 swipes.
If it wasn't for that Judge character, Witt is AL MVP hands down.
KC will push Cleveland to the end.Last edited by stevenash; 07-22-24, 10:03 PM.Leave a comment:

Yes and so were the 2019 Nationals... So in baseball anything is on the table. A sport in which the worst teams still beat 100 win teams. Having said all that, no love for the Guardians, Nash? I can't see the Yankees winning. Especially once Stanton comes back. Don't expect Houston to once again take the ALCS to the wire. That leaves Guradians and Orioles. I have been taking both and putting them in exact Super Bowl outcome parlays.
It always starts with starting pitching and Cleveland doesn't have it.
Not only that, but their pitching staff has also given up 82 homers overall. Most in MLB.
Even with a pretty good bullpen, depending on which metric one uses to rate pitching staffs, they're overall staff is 24th overall.
Sure, Cleveland can hit, so can 24 other MLB teams.
J-Ram can mash, Kwan isn't a .340 hitter though, he'll wind up between .308-.314, something like that.
It takes a generational great hitter, like Boggs, Gwynn, or a Ted Williams to sniff .400 in August, Kwan's a terrific contact hitter, not .350 + though.
As a matter of fact, the best rotations in the AL are all in the East except Seattle.Leave a comment:
