problem with AFL umpiring now days is they are too whistle happy. Any contested 50/50 balls they pull out a crappy decision for no reason. LET IT GO. if they umpired like it was the grand final every week we wouldn't have a problem. umpires need to keep it simple-if it's 50/50 or any doubt let it go-play on. Just pay the obvious stuff.

the free kick to richmond which resulted in their first goal was a complete joke. push and shove and he pulls out the softest free which resulted ina goal. that umpire needs to suspended for a week or take up netball.

Having watched so much NRL in the last month I agree, AFL needs to allow a bit more physicality in the game. If it's an even contest and an arm wrestle then let the best man win. Call the obvious holds, shirt pulling, and push in the backs, but err on the side of letting them play. I'd also personally bring in a sin-bin for anyone who's caught trying to milk a penalty, flopping, etc, but I don't trust the current umpires to enforce it right - I'd have it a post-game decision. Same for soccer, have a post-video review and if you're a clear flopper then don't bother turning up for the next game. Soft players better hope I never end up running these codes

I was on Carlton 1-39 so suffice to say that was a pretty rough way to start the season. Carlton were clearly the better side though, a 4-5 goal win was about the right margin. Richmond's problem is clearly their defense, their inexperience there will keep them in the bottom 5 teams all season IMO.

Epic games on tonight in league and AFL, with Collingwood having about half their top side out (Krackers, Tarrant, Maxwell, Beams, etc) the play has to be Hawthorn - possibly even in a rout. My concern is every man and their dog is on Hawthorn like they were on Richmond last night, and that just never seems to end up well.
