    RicHmond-Carlton over 194.5 - 1 unit.
The weather is pretty good in here gee, and even if it does rain a little the mcg has amazing drainage.
cant really see this going under as I think Carlton will win and thus kick over 110 points, Richmond should be good for around 90.

Great to see footy back, this is the true start of the season not that joke that happened last week.

    Good luck all

    Brettels this is our year

I don't think this bet will lose Brettels, but unless you are betting at least $500 on each side, I can't really see the point.

I like the Tigers play and I am going to take them +13.5 for a unit.

How is the weather in Melbourne? This is almost certainly an over game too... I'll take it for a unit if the weather and wind are good too.

You don't think Richmond can get thrashed?

    Kidding aside, good luck!

I checked on Centrebet. That's what i use most for AFL. It is down to 15.5 now. I'm a blues fan, I feel like Richmond will cover easy, if not win SU, but I feel like it's lost a bit of value now, so im hesitating...

I don't think the outs for Carlton are significant enough for full confidence in a Richmond win but I'm really excited and it is actually winnable for the first since 2008, will see who gets named !

Do not follow but i've played the h2h on coburg tigers to beat northern bullants, this is just a fun play cause they are richmond affiliated.

yeah around 40k at anz is possible for this game, maybe more and thats more than the capacity of every other NRL stadium for tonight matches lol.......for all we know they might fill 80k in anz tonight. i just don't know what the Sidney vibe is on the new GWS team. im leaving it at no bets anyway but will definitely be watching.

I'd be more incline to take 'NO' in that option. The 3 NRL games should get close to capacity being local games, so maybe 60,000? How many do u expect at ANZ? 40,000?

Well donkson if you want to be a clever dick then you should read an article i have linked below. While you say the game is more profitable than ever, the AFL is also in more DEBT than they have ever been before! This comes down to dumb people running the show.

well if i had to make a play on tonights game, what would it be? The assumed consensus is everyone likes the GWS +90.5 line and my thoughts on that is that this first game is clearly set up! The AFL has set it up as the only game for the week, I think there may be some under the table deals for sydney in this too so that while they convincingly beat them that they do not smash them, its just a vibe i have with the rd1 setup and also trying to convert NRL fans its all a strange vibe in comparison to gold coast's first year. GWS results in NAB cup were more impressive than GC's first year IIRC? But, didn't GC impress in there first NAB? Look what happened when the real thing started, GC were smashed to bits. So i'm 50/50 on such a big line where i am very skeptical on how things will play out. If i wasn't skeptical the play would be swans at the line and seeing as though richmond and hawthorn beat them by 74 and 75 in the practice matches, the swans can cover that line too easily. Maybe the best play is no play at all and to just sit back and watch the new circus in town.

*there is a specials bet at sportsbet

Will the GWS v Sydney game at ANZ stadium draw a bigger crowd than the 3 Saturday night NRL matches?
(warriors v titans, dragons v manly, cowboys v sharks)

    yes 1.50
    no 2.50

ANZ stadium has more than double the capacity than each of the stadiums the nrl matches are being played at! the question is how do local sydney siders feel about the new derby produced by afl for there state?? i dunno, haven't been to sydney in yeeeears. I'll take maybe at 1.75

I'd rather have this than no AFL game this week. I agree with the brain dead administration though.

Benrama, are you ready to be tailed this season? Did well off you last time.

Banks have been more profitable than they've ever been too. Organising this game a week in advance is a dumb move, there's no hype for it whatsoever, everyone knows that GWS will get thrashed. NRL has Saints vs Sea Eagles which will dominate ratings in Sydney which is the main market it is targetted at. Having the game on a Thursday night (say) makes sense but not a week before, total anti-climax. As was the NAB cup, which hopefully never gets played in its current format again. Being a successful code doesn't make you immune to brain dead administration decisions.

Just made my first bets for the season here they are

    season total wins
West Coast UNDER 14.5 WINS @ $1.80 (I have them at 12 fading later in the year and a 1 and done finals time)
Gold Coast UNDER 5.5 WINS @ $1.80 (if you think they win more than 3 games you mad)
Essendon UNDER 11.5 WINS @ $1.85 & TO MISS THE TOP 8 @ $1.80 (I have them winning 8 games, if they beat a winning team I will be very surprised)
Fremantle UNDER 13 WINS @ $ 2.00 (this is my biggest bet, I would still have taken it at 12 or if it was @ $1.80)

    Brownlow Medal
    Dale Thomas @ $51
    Scott Pendlebury @ $9
    Jimmy Bartel @ $67

Yeah its grown cause of population growth and kids adopt a footy team from there family (usually) thats why, nothing from what they have done the game did it on its own! let me fukkiin rant and be pissed off about the dumbest round 1 system i have ever seen!!!
